Gfx Card upgrade. Please

Updated my post mate, it covers that bit.

There's really nothing worth moving to that offers a legitimate jump in performance, there's a bit of a no mans land between the 9070XT/5070TI/5080 and the 5090 unfortunately.

I believe BF6 absolutely loves the extra L3 in X3D CPU's, you might well be better off getting the 9070XT + one of the AM5 X3D variants over any other GPU upgrade, you could sell your 7600 to help offset costs. I would look into this more however, I don't know much about BF6 outside of third party comments so I'd be certain before going to the hassle of a CPU

thank all i have now ordered the card. i look forward to gaming on it when it arrives PS free shipping :D

Good choice! Be sure to let us know how you get on.

Remember to remove your old Nvidia drivers before installing the new card, Windows is pretty good with that sort of thing now but it's still worth doing just in case.

how long will this card last age wise please.
I'd agree with what Gray2233 said, it'll be fine for 3-5 years at 1440p, but if you're not hard on your settings and don't always play AAA games there's no reason it couldn't last for longer.

That said, newer AAA games can be pretty tough on even high-end cards, so there's always a possibility a new game will come out that makes you sad :o

BF6 is apparently one of those games that benefits from X3D CPU.

My advice would be 7800X3D with a 9070xt and worry about graphics cards next year when we have 6080 GPU's.

The 5080 Super will be 1st or second quarter next year and overpriced at £1200 plus yet within 6 months of release of Supers we will see the new 6000 series.

Hardly worth paying the premium or getting into debt for.

I myself had thought of waiting for the 5080 Super, I even bought a temporary 9060xt 16gb GPU, but ended up buying the 9070xt anyway.as this time next year we will have better AMD cards than the 5080 Super for half the price probably.

5070 super with 18gb. I’m expecting this to be around £800 and to stay relevant for some time. I think this card will have enough about it for resolutions of 5k or less. It’s should also be reasonably efficient and well under the power draw of the current 5080 16gb. I’d only look cards with 24 gigabytes and above for running monitors with massive resolutions like 7680x2160.

@sastusbulbas recommended the 7800X3D. Selling your 7600 may help you with funding the new CPU if needed.

https://www.techspot.com/review/3043-battlefield-6-cpu-benchmark/ covers BF6 benchmarks for CPUs in particular. Worth reading that article, but just to quote some information from their 1080p 'overkill' preset section:

Our 7800X3D was unavailable because we lent it to another reviewer, but it is generally around 10% slower than the 9800X3D. That means it should achieve at least 170 fps in this test, making it roughly 13% faster than the 7600X3D, which aligns with expectations.

Combining benchmarks from performance reviews always confuses me, but if I'm reading that right, you could expect a 7600 to hit 100 FPS overall (including 1% lows) at 1080p.

But, you need more like a 9070 to hit 100 fps at 1080p (highest settings) in TPU's GPU testing.

Sooo..., for the OP playing at 1440p, I'd expect a GPU to offer better returns to do first? In TPU's testing, the 3070 Ti got 56 fps and the 9070 80 fps (at highest settings again, 1440p).

Hey all I've been offered a ryzen 7 9800x3d for £280 would this be ok for me instead if the 7800x3d ?? Thank you

wow!!!
obviously cant share a link due to the competitor mentioning rules but is that used? special offer? almost sounds too good to be true if im honest
very happy to be proven wrong on that one though lol

and the question yes the 9800x3d is basically a slightly improved 7800x3d well for the purposes of answering the question at least in this context it is basically an improved 7800x3d.

As long as it’s not being sold by a hairy American called Steve who’s been trying to kill it for a few months. But seriously £280 is a bargain if genuine.
i went and got it and put it in my system, and now my computer wont start up. everything come on but juts no signel, would i have to flash the bios in order for the 9800x3d to work on my motherboard

thank you

Yes you probably will need to update. You could try clearing the CMOS too.

That's the B650 board (ASRock Pro RS)?

Is this a first boot? How long did you wait?
thia is the first boot after instaling the cpu would i still have to wait the 5-10 mins for the first boot with the new cpu

Did you ever update the BIOS since first receiving your board?

Possibly, yes.

i dont think i did, i tend not to do bios updates unless i really have to.. i would even know what one i would need to update to.. there is that many. i can flash via the flashback but its knowing the right one to download.
