gfx cards and warrantys?

Got a new evga 8800gtx winging its way over. Never really thought much about the warranty till after i ordered it. 
Confuses me how some companies can be really uppity on warrenties. When its all said and done its THEIR product nomatter what region it was bought in so i don't see why they should have the right to say you bought it there and not here so you've no warranty. Especially when it comes to pc components which obviously are universal.
