'Ello. I'm looking to purchase a second hand GFX for around £50 now I have no idea about these so not really too sure what I'm looking for. Quickly searching through ebay I've noticed that ATI x1900xt/ATI x1950 seem to sell more than ATI 2600 so am I right in thinking these are better cards? Also what nVidia cards are recommended with the same benchmarks as these cards? Another other suggestions to look for welcome!

Cheers.

No it wouldn't, as the x1900 XT will easily clock to XTX speeds and beyond, and its faster than the 2600. :)

For Nvidia cards, the 7900 GTX was the x1900's competitor.

The extra memory is worth it if you game at 1280x1024 or over i would say,
but a 256mb x1900xt is still faster than a 512mb x1950pro.

I would only go for the 7900gtx if it was cheaper.

What about 1950xtx that still slower than the 1900xt? What about make of cards gigabit, saphire etc do they make a difference?

The X1950XTX is the best 1xxx series card they made, period, coming close and supassing the 2900 XT (512MB) in some cases :p

Worst>Best

X1900XT 256MB>X1950XT 256MB>X1900XT 512MB>X1950XT 512MB>X1900XTX 512MB>X1950XTX 512MB (I think);)

Some manufactures might add a small overclock to the cards themselves or, change the cooler, but the core card is still the same*.

*However with Nvidia I know that companies such as BFG and EVGA "cherry pick" their cards; although I'm not sure which are the premier ATI card manufactures, Sapphire and HIS I believe (Stand to be corrected:D)

Hope this helps

Not on that guide; how does a 7900GTO compare to a 7900gtx (in simple man terms =P) and then how would a 7900GTO compare to a x1900xtx?
