Currently have a SN95G5 ( 300watt psu, made to ft ;) ) with 4400 X2, 2GB Ram 2 hdds and dvd writer and the gfx is taken care of by a ATI X800 XT PE.

Looking at going the SN26 route (350watt psu will prolly upg to the 450) so that i can carry most of the bits over but i am not sure of which of the cards to get.

Buget is around £150 but would rather not spend that....

Now the SN26 is SLI ready so i could get 2 mid range cards and sli them or i could get a card with a bit more humph......

I've looked and the ones that seem to crop up at a decent cost are the X1950Pro, 2600XT, 8600GT and the 7900GS

any sugestions ?

The X1950pro would be my choice out of those options. If you are a gamer though it might be worth looking out for the 8800GT which is near the top end of your budget but destroys all of the above. :)

Yeah i would love to but it is pushing the buget meaning all thoese other little bits to improve the rig slighty would have to wait and as i don't class my self as a heavy gamer ( not thinking of DX10 / Vista ) spending that much on the card seems overkill.

Looking at the price perforamce the X1950 Pro is coming out tops....

surely you'd want a 8800gt 512?

i'm running one on a 400w antec psu

Again, thats pushing the buget to the max and i would rather not spend that kinda dosh.

The money is there just i can not justify to myself that kind or outlay compared to say a new hdd / monitor and so on.

Yes it might be fast but as i don't see myself playing with Vista / DX10 i don't realy see the need for it and am only running a X2 4400 in the rig....... a 8800GT seems overkill for it.

and am yet to see a 8800GT on preorder for that kind of cash.

have you played any of these games?

cod4
ut3
crysis
sof3
gears of war

you might find you want to play them at some point
