Looking to upgrade in a few days. However i'm out of the loop with the latest cards of which are currentlly avaliable. Any reason as to why ATI are very cheap compared to Nvidia and offer 8gb VRAM? I've been considering the MSI Gaming G1 970 as this looks pretty solid based on reviews and also from what i've heard from peers. Budget is around £300-350

Thanks.

I'd be looking at a 390x for that money not a 970.

I've got the Fury version of this and it's an excellent cooler.

If you want to run at stock clocks (not bother overclocking it yourself) the MSI 390x gaming looks like a good option with it's higher stock clock.

Or for a little extra go for this

Just have two 1080p monitors atm and play a variety of games. I'll most likely want to mod Fallout 4 when that gets a bunch of gfx mods so will probably need a hefty card. (ran into issues with Skyrim/Vegas with the 2gb memory on the 670)

Current setup:
i5 4670k
MSI GTX 670 Power Edition
8gb Avexir Core 1600Mhz

~Get an 8gb card if your modding, might come in handy and there is not much performance difference between a 970 and a 390 tbh.

390/390x are rated as needing a 600 watt min psu, While it may be a good 550 watt are you willing to risk it? I still think if you can pay the extra the 8 pack HOF will be the better option but it'll also need a bigger psu.

So maybe you'd be best off getting a 390 and a new psu for the 300-350 you have to spend.

That psu should be fine to run the card. I would not however be adding any volts in to overclock as the power usage shoots up a good bit. The recommended minimum from manufacturers is always on the high side to cover themselves.

Ah, i think i'll just go ahead and upgrade if that's the case. Gives me some leeway and overhead in the future. Any decent solid PSU's for a reasonable price?
