Hi guys
I hadn't realised it but my old XP machine was picking up a disk error in the event manager since October (well that's how old the records are).
There's a bad block on the D partion of my main C/D HD. Not surprising really as it is quite a few years old. I only got the heads up today when on a restart windows was looping on chkdsk, which I bypassed after a few passes and it's ok but it's clearly on its way out.
I have all my work backed up, but tbh I don't use it much anymore so don't want to have to set it all back up again.
Is it advisable/possible to get a new drive and just lock stock copy everything to the new drive after maybe booting from a CD (linux?) and just have all my old data sat on a new drive to work from?
Thanks
