Ghosting of some sort when moving in games

Hi,

Only really noticed this so far in GTA V and Back 4 Blood, when stood still, the image looks fine, but when moving there is some sort of ghosting, it's almost like a faint black outline it makes the image look like it's a pastel painting whilst moving. Very odd.

If I turn the refresh rate to 60Hz it seems to stop the issue mostly.

3080Ti & Dell S2721DGF

Any ideas what's going on?

Nope always have that turned off. Tried turning all those features, other things like chromatic aberration, film grain, not sure they would effect it but I have them turned off anyway.

Is it your monitor forcing some sort of extreme overdrive when pushed to high refresh rate? I've noticed an increase in "ghosting" (it's called something else as it's essentially reverse ghosting/overshooting) when setting mine to max as opposed to low/mid level.

I was running the same monitor actually

The one time I thought I was going to be of any tech help on this forum and I was 6 mins too late :*(

Not sure what is going on with GTA V, but Back 4 Blood tends to default to DLSS on higher end Nvidia cards, and the implementation is not perfect (well, there are a fair few bugs in the game full stop). Maybe try without DLSS if you have that enabled and see if that helps?

Is this something you can capture with a phone and upload to YouTube?
I have the same monitor, and a 3090fe. I've not noticed anything like you've described, but dlss can cause this, Cyberpunk is a good example.
Can compare monitor settings if you want, I won't be home till this eve tho.

Not noticed dlss causing that particular issue in b4blood when I played it, ye olde reinstall of drivers any luck ?

Bumping this thread as I am having similar issue.

Monitor is free sync on with nvidia, and I get annoying ghost on black objects. If I turn around a corner and there's a decent amount of black and brighter colors everything gets smeared around and I can't really see player movement from the ghosting.

It's provably hard to see since it's a footage from my camera:

Theres some sort of flickering black and it is super annoying.

Orig clip for comparison

UFO test doesn't really show and ghosting which is weird. But csgo is unplayable with this monitor.

With g sync on it ignores response time, can't change anything with it.

Is it a faulty monitor? I'm in dialogue with dell but they don't really get how it should be a monitor fault and I agree. However, I tried using my gfs computer on the monitor and the issue still persists. However, when I watch the original clip on my TV it doesn't show the black ghosting, but my Huawei p20 actually also shows the black ghosting trail.

Is if because its ips? I've had the monitor 9 months but recently noticed it and can't unsee it as everything sucks.

Look at this doom clip and see how blurry it becomes.

Does this monitor simply just suck?

What's your monitor?

maybe refresh rate isnt set right or a sync issue? If it isnt a monitor overdrive turned up like wills was. Or maybe a cable or port issue???
