Giant-killing nova

I nav'd a twelve car in Devon in a 1.2 nova, standard apart from avo adjustables and cibie oscars and we managed to overtake a 309 GTi which was not exactley being driven slowly. Goes to show that a) novas aren't that bad and b) a lot of it is down to the driver/co-driver/nav.

Incidently I came second in a 12 car last night in the shove it, beaten only by a V8 TR7. Beat a challenge spec 205 GTi though ;) .

it maybe only 1300cc, but its engine isnt stock, it has webers for a start so it aint going to be "that" slow.

They could be Dell'Orto's :p

I'd be suprised if it didn't have some race cams in it...

Now THAT is impressive :)
To be fair it's more about the navigation in road events, but I was pretty chuffed with it. Aaaany way, my point was meant to be along the lines of that is a nice nova, but rallying isn't all down to throwing money at a car. It's needs to be backed up by a good crew and it also helps to have a good helping of luck ;) .

Very impressive, but I don't think it has magical powers that propel it to destroy all in it's path.

I mean, why would Prodrive and Subaru et al spend umpteen-thousands developing WRC cars when they could have just baught a £200 nova and stuck a magical gearbox into it?

My point is it's the driver here who gets my praise and  for being able to beat 80k Imprezas in an old shoe-box.

Yep, that's called camber - it helps the car go round corners.

What he said ^^^^

Mine has loads at the front, you can see it here (look at the front an rear wheels for comparison):

Click.

Downside is increased tyre wear on the inside edges.

Mine aren't like that

That's a lot of camber that car is running, will make it yummy round the corners but scary as **** cornering at high speed.

Pretty much everything other than a Citroen 2CV runs a little negative camber, just a degree or two you'll hardly notice, but it is there.

2.5 degrees?

Haven't a clue, it was like that when I got it. I'm going to get a full 4-wheel alignment done soon though. I'll still keep all that camber, apart from the handling benefits, it looks great ;)

EDIT: Might be a bit easier to see in this pic:

:D

car was braking a bit there as well so camber looks a little worse.

Also rear beam been cut and re welded to add some rear camber.

The little fessy out cornered every car around haynes main corner, this includes 3 Evos, countless scoobs,205 gti etc.If my Evo 3 corners as good when its done I will be more than happy.

The thing is a dam weapon, just needs re map+extra boost for them straights :)
