Giant Squid

Hard to get the scale of the thing, but still, it looks huge and dangarous...


i think it would be brown trousers if I saw that for real :D

I saw a BBC docurama/cgi extravaganza a few months ago, Ocean Odyessy I think it was called, where they followed the life of a Sperm Whale. The whale made a point of diving to great depths in order to hunt the giant squid and whales have been found with scars from the suckers and beaks of these magnificent creatures.

It's all kickin' off down in the depths! :eek:
 
Aye, I remember watching that, not a bad program, the Squid hunting looked fierce though :o
 
Sperm whales actually eat giant/collosal squid as a large portion of their diet. Beaks are often found in sperm whale stomachs.

The species shown in that vid is actually only the fifth largest squid species. It's about as 6 feet long.

I was actually watching that last night. The collosal squid that the whale was eating looks a monster.
