Giant suitcase for computer...

...the box the case came in? :)

EDIT: Actually, id strip it and box it before doing any long travel, would lower the chance of anything getting broke

You can't use any kind of normal suitcase, it' would never arrive in one piece. You would need something like a pelican case and they are not cheap.

Get a hard wheely case that it will fit into - get some bubble wrap and wrap it until it is fixed securely and cannot move a mm- Do the same inside the computer so that nothing can move around in the computer if it becomes loose!

Remember to properly brace/remove the cpu cooler if it;s a big/heavy one.

Also probably best to remove the gfx card if it's got a very heavy cooler don;t want them snapping the mobo if it gets knocked over.

My buddy, a fellow member here, bought his PC all the way back from Korea. He dismantled it and bought it through in his hand luggage afaik, or a combination of hand and stored luggage. Anyway, he got through (chinese security too afaik), so it's an option. If a little extreme! :D.

My PC goes on a plane at least twice a year and it's always fine. It's gone both in suitcases and in the boxes my various PC cases have come in.

If going in a suitcase just be sure to pad around the PC case well so it can't move around. Either way, be sure to remove your hard disks and graphics card to carry them on as hand luggage (unless it's a small/light card), and stuff the inside of the case full of something (I use clothes) so the CPU's heatsink can't move (again unless it's small/light).

OP I wouldnt bother listening to half the people here, I checked all my components were seated properly and screws were all tight and then wrapped the case in a towel, and stuffed some various other clothes around my PC, its a fairly big Lian-Li case, and then rammed it into a hard wheelie suitcase to take on a plane with me.
It arrived in one piece, all fully working.

As Tefal says though, big heatsink/fan would best be removed, I only had an arctic cooler on mine.

Need the dimensions of your rig if you want someone to try and find you a large enough case to be honest OP.
Try charity websites or something, charity shops, TK Maxx, TJ Hughes etc.

**edit - ethel austin have just gone into administration, see if there is one near you, I would imagine they sell suitcases too.

I stuffed mine with clothes (with all the components still inside) and put it in the cases original box with the original paddings. Went for a 24 hour flight (with 4 hour stop), got thrown around by those luggage people etc. and arrived fully working with no damage at all.

Champion! That's the way to travel with the PC...
Ethel Austin would certainly have the apparel/where-with-all to suit your needs.
