These are needed on OCUK bad!! Found them for £85 new on the interwebs but I hate buying PC components from any where but OCUK...

Those at a nice price with a 290 or 290X would be an awesome combo...

GET THEM IN!!! :D

While it looks good and all, but cooling performance wise, I can't see it being better than the Prolimatech MK-26.

From review on the internet is pretty much destroys any GPU air cooler while being more or less completely silent....

ASUS used a similar all in one solution on the ARES 3 and that things runs cool and the 120mm radiator on that has to handle 2 GPU's!

The ones you found are the 680 version and they won't work on a 7970 without a shim, let alone a 290X. The 7970 version is EOL.

More reason for Gibbo to buy up all the stock from the factory :D

And I used a copper shim I bought from ebay for £2 and it worked like a treat when I mounted my Antec Kuhler 620 to my 7950....

That's fair enough, but some people prefer to have a clean looking official solution without the fiddling and are willing to pay a bit extra for it.

Agreed.... I used one of the brackets before and it was a crappy looking thing and it was fidley to mount...

This Arctic unit is much nicer looking then any of the mods, only problem it had was the price, Arctic basically priced it out of the market.

If OCUK can get there hands on any old stock, or even refurb stock like they have with the Corsaid H series then I'll buy a couple in a heartbeat for my 7950's

How many you have on the way gibbo? I don't get paid till monday so can't pre-order any until then and don't to go without seen as I suggested you guys get them in..

These should be quite popular with the people thinking of getting a 290 or 290X.

Custom loop with a good block like ek will wipe the floor with one of these, a good loop on a 7970 would give you high volt/clock temps in the low to mid 40's.

My 7950 running 1.25v and 1150Mhz hit mid to high 40's on an Antec Kuhler 620 using the bracket mod.

This Arctic cooler has the same pump and radiator.

See matts comments further above about vrms, this is the main reason I'm not a big fan of this type of gpu cooling, no amount of small heatsinks and fans are going to come close to a bit of copper and a direct water path. Even some 'full cover' waterblocks suffer this fate I.e. alphacool & early xspc as they don't have active cooling on vrm areas :)

Hot vrms are inefficient, so core temps are only a part of the picture as ideally you want vrm temps as close to the core temp as possible, in your situation I'd wager the vrms are running a good 35-55c hotter then the core.

Its not to say these hybrid aio cooling solutions aren't any good, they can fair quite well as the ares did, but asus dealt with the other important parts well in the cooler design.

My VRM's on my Twin Frozr 3 7950 were fine...

+1 VRM temps were the reason I ditched my 7970 Accelero. The core was sitting at ~60c and the VRM's were sitting mid 90's and often approaching 100c :O

Now I've got my core and VRM's sitting ~40c under a big slab of copper :D

90-100c is very extreme and is just down to poor cooling, even my Twin Frozr 3 7950's VRM's don't hit any where near that with the stock cooling.

I can't understand how people work out these are expensive compared to using a custom bracket...

1. DWood isn't taking orders any more
2. The Sigma_Cool only works with either AMD or Nvidia and requires you to order a bracket for each brand which doubles up the cost.

This Arctic Cooling unit has everything you need except a £1 copper shim, mounts much easier and looks a lot more professional.

With the cost of buying and shipping the bracket to you it actually costs you more to use the custom bracket method then just buying this Arctic system...

My DWood bracket cost me £13 and took 5 WEEKS to get to me and 2x Signa_Cool brackets will cost you £20-25 shipped

I did it because at the time the Arctic one was £195 and said to be not that good.

The Arctic cooler will likely perform better then your way as it has a better mounting system and get a much more efficient mount onto the GPU core.

Not to mention it looks nicer, it was an expensive item back when it released but at the price OCUK have got them in for they're actually a cheaper option then buying an all in one CPU cooler and using a bracket.

I also don't understand how people can say it's 'No Good' when it uses the same pump and radiator as the Antec 620 does and people don't complain about the cooling performance of that??

I didnt use a bracket and I was well chuffed with the temps other thing you have to remember with these is the location of the radiator.
Its not as straight forward as using a CPU AIO.

Although if I was buying one now I may have gone for the Arctic as I quite like their products and the price is good from OCUK

I used the cable tie method on my 7950 until my bracket arrived and the bracket lowered temps by 5-6c because it could put much better and a more spread of pressure on the core.

They're a steak at £75 and work out cheaper then buying a CPU based all in one and using a mod

Mine should be here tomorrow but I don't have a 290X but they'll be tested on over-volted 7950's.

I'll do a mini-review tomorrow so you guys can see how they handle the heat load...

They are rated at 320w though
