Hi - as per title really. Been gifted the above and it's running Android 4.4.2 so a lot of new stuff won't install onto it.
Is it worth/possible to do anything to get it to run a newer version of Android? I've heard the term Rooting, but never tried to do anything like that before. Is it even worth doing/will it run a new enough version of Android to be worth it?

Unfortunately it's too old (2013) and has too low specs (e.g. 1gb ram) that even unofficial OS updates (e.g. LineageOS) no longer offer support for it.

Whilst I'm sure it's possible to build and compile a newer OS to run on it, it's certainly not a "noob" friendly process, and will likely end up with something slow and not particularly usable at the end of it.
 
Ah ok, thank you for the replies. That's a shame, guess that's why it was going free lol

I'll just use it as a portable web browser then. Cheers :)
