Allo. I was given a cheapo bottle of Spar Glen Dhu whiskey by the old boy next door before he shuffled off. I did his shopping and stuff during lockdown/shielding etc last year. It's sat on a shelf for the last several months and I don't know what to do with it!

I thought about giving it to the postman as an Xmas tip/gift (I don't tip usually) - is this a good idea or would the postie be offended? I don't even know if he drinks tbh. I wasn't offended when I was given it and appreciated the thought, if not the actual item lol!

If not, any other suggestions as to what to do with 75cl of own brand whiskey? I no longer drink, so necking it isn't an option and I don't know anyone that would willingly drink it, most of my friends are single malt drinkers or similar. The other option if giving it as a raffle prize somewhere, but there's nowhere round here collecting that kind of stuff afaik.

Thoughts? Ta!

Keep it as a momento of the person? Go old school and pour it on his grave as a libation?

If you give it to someone else, the best outcome is that they (like you) appreciate the thought but not the actual item. If I won it in a raffle, I wouldn't accept the prize. I'd smile politely and donate it back to the raffle. Without any sentimental value, it's just a waste of space. Is the bottle pretty enough to be ornamental?

It's the thought that counts, and if you think your postie might appreciate the gesture, then I vote for this option.

Or leave it on your shelf for some potential 'need' in future.

Whiskey and coke. It's a shame to blow a single malt on such a tripe drink but something like what you've posted I wouldn't second guess. You can get fancy cokes for fairly cheap, and have it as a treat drink very infrequently.

Another life changing decision to be agonised over in here, the huge responsibilities people expect others to share, I don't know... ;)

I think it's an interesting dilemma to be in. Much more so than half the other guff that gets posted amongst these forums. It's a cheap bottle of whiskey that almost no-one would consider drinking. As another poster said, i'd look at what you could cook/bake that you could use it up in.

Firstly, don't worry about it going off... Secondly, I'm a single malt drinker and don't mind having the odd cheapo bottle in for mixing the odd Boulevardier every now and again. Or whiskey Mac etc. Sure your friends wouldn't take it?

as when i am not on sick i work in a distillery and as i am not a total drinks snob. would give it a taste and find out who blends and bottles it,
or option 2 follow forum sheep ,that seems to be the way on here

I know I'm on your ignore ( ) but I've never heard of Bouldevardier and it's now on my Christmas cocktail list. Thanks pal
