Most people say they plug them directly into their router and then feed cables off this box, what i want to know is can i plug my Ethernet cable from my room which is coming from the router, into a network switch and then feed what i want from the box?

As i have had new carpet throughout the house, it means taking it up and laying new cable, if i could do what i mentioned up top then it would save so much time and effort.

This is what i'm looking at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-011-TP

Cheers

Yes.

Ideally your Ethernet cable coming from the router would be solid core rather than stranded cable and terminated at each end into a wall socket. You would then have a patch cable connected to the sockets at each end to connect to the router and the PC or Switch as you now want to do at the other socket.

That is fine for a home environment, it's not seen as ideal within business as it starts to make a larger network more fragmented and a centralised approach is preferred.
