hi guys,

Im currently on the GV-N98TG1 GAMING-6GD.F3 bios rev and seen that gigabyte have released a newer version

Is it worth updating if so which one do I use N98TG16DD.F4 or N98TG16DP.F4

I assume I can upgrade via dispalyport

The G1 has a dual BIOS. Read the PDF carefully that comes with it.

The F3 BIOS was set for 300w. F4 is setup for 280w. It runs a little cooler, fans don't spin so fast and the boost is a little lower. I prefer the F4 and which can still boost over 1560. The F3 finished one bench with a max of 1602.

Oh ..... Make sure you backup both BIOS and name them F3 before flashing the F4s. I used the utility that comes with the BIOS.

thanks if it runs cooler thats a bonus

There is a Gigabyte rep here from time to time. Perhaps he can confirm if you can use a Displayport to update. I would wait for confirmation before trying since you don't have DVI inputs to fallback on.

It does explain the diffitence between the two BIOS files in the PDF.

When I flashed my 970 you use the BIOS corresponding to the input you have the monitor plugged in to.

So I assume dp is display port and dd is dvi-d port.

One thing I had to do in my 970 is actually disable the device in device manager before it would flash successfully. Otherwise all I got was l funky colours on screen.

Don't quote me on that, but that's my two cents.

Thanks Wrinkly I just asked the question

Im still confused as it seems you have to connect to dvi 1st bios and dvi-d for second bios? Is that right LOL if thats the case its more hassle than its worth I might just buy the EVGA hybrid :)

They are the same bios. If your connected via DP us the DP bios.

But consult the PDF in the archive. It will tell you.
