My Q6600 B3 can do an overclock of 3.2GHz (356 x 9, Vcore 1.475v, Mem. 2.1v on a PSU Corsair 620W) all day on air at 38-44C on each core idle and never goes above 55C load. I can boot at 3.2GHz from cold or warm boot and it never fails me. :)

My PC had been left on overnight (and therefore was warm) so in the morning I decided to overclock the PC to 3.4Ghz (with a slight increase on Vcore to 1.5V and 376 x 9 but no other BIOS changes), F10'd it to save to BIOS and it successsfuly rebooted and loaded up Vista Ult 64 bit.

It then worked a charm at 3.4GHZ without any hitches in Prime 95, Crysis, converting video and a new high score for me in 3D mark 2006 of 15090.;) for around 3-4 hours before I switched my PC off to got to work.

However, when I returned home that evening to turn on the PC (obviously from cold) the PC would not post and would reset just before the usual POST beep? This would loop constantly until I reset CMOS Batt. **It would then boot fine from cold everytime at 3.2GHz if I put the settings back?**

Please can someone advise me why I can overclock to 3.4GHz perfectly when the machine is a warm boot but not from cold boot??

P.S Did upgrade to most recent BIOS for the mobo (F12) and that would not let me overclock to anything above 2.8GHz  with the same settings that were successful @ 3.2GHZ in BIOS F10 so resorted back to F10 BIOS?

Thank you :)

i think the gigabyte bois has some thing to save commonly used functioning bios settings(i saw it on my m8s mobo box), and scince you ran it at 3.4ghz for very long it might of save this bios setting as defult instead.

as for the 3.4ghz i not sure... due to heat some resistances lowered and therefor some how gave you a better stable computer... but i nooby dont listen to me:P

Maybe try increasing NB voltage! Could solve some of those cold boots, increasing that totally stabalised my system!
