Hey guys,

My DS4's just developed a very werid boot problem and I've got no idea whats causing it. Basically the computer boots up and on the POST screen it gets to the bit where it says "Memory Runs at Dual Channel Interleaved" then just freezes. If i press del to get into the bios it just sits forever on "preparing to enter setup...".

I've tried running with a single stick of ram, have disconnected all the hard discs etc but it still won't get passed the the POST screen. It was working fine just a few hours ago so I'm really not sure what is up. Has anyone experianced anything like this or know what might be causing it?

Also is there anyway to force it to boot the backup BIOS? Maybe that will help it but I cant find anyway to force it to switch BIOS.

Thanks.

What do you mean by resetting the BIOS? The same thing as resetting the CMOS?

The only change I made yesterday was using the BIOS updater tool that is accessed through the BIOS screen, I copied the Backup BIOS to the Main BIOS as I wanted to roll back to the F5c revision (I had updated to F7 last week but it seems to break the auto fan control on the SYSFAN header). The BIOS I rolled back to was the same one I had been using for months so I don't see how it could have gone corrupt all of a sudden.
The system was booting fine just after I went back to using the older BIOS and everything seemed to be ok.. then later on when I came to switch it on I get the problem as described above.

Ah I see :( I didn't realise you wean't meant to go back to previous versions, I seem to remember doing it before without any trouble but I guess I've just got a bit unlucky this time then.

I've had the battery out all night and it was the same problem still this morning when I put it back in so I guess it's pretty much dead? :o

Sooo very random. I left the battery out again this afternoon and reset the CMOS. Turned it on again just now and hey presto it's decided it would like to work again. Ahh well just happy to have it working again.

Thanks for the help guys :)
