So my pc this morning won't boot at all. The motherboard displays the code C4 which according to the manual simply means "reserved". I'm guessing they found something to use it for!

I've pulled the ram, cpu, gpu, reset the bios, unplugged everything from the board bar the buttons to turn it on from the case. No mouse, no KB or sound or anything. Sadly I don't have any other parts to test it out and the only other machine in the house isn't compatible.

I've done this in stages hoping to find the culprit but to no avail. I'm guessing it means the board is shot but would appreciate it if anyone does have any idea what the code means.

It's dead Jim.

Gigabyte actually got back to me inside a few hours and said to try pulling the battery, wait for 10 mins, put back and reset cmos again but it didn't work.

A replacement came from OCUK yesterday and it all fired up first time which was nice to see. Glad it wasn't the cpu that was cooked.

Naturally the CPU is in a slightly different place on this one so at a minimum I need to redo 2 tubes for the loop, though I might redo the whole lot as it smells like a fish tank despite having stuff in it to prevent that.
