Hi

Cpu , Ryzen 1800X
Gigabyte GA-AX370 Gaming K7
G.Skill : F4-3200C14D-16GTZ
32 GB
3200MHz
Latency 14-14-14-34

everything is working great on F10 Bios, with XMP enabled

But with F20s Bios, With XMP , the Rams only work at 3000MHZ or less

if I exceed that, or keep it auto which should work at 3200MHz, they won't go to those speeds.

they only work at 2133MHz, why is that??

Gigabyte told me that I don't need to to use F20 as long as am using 1800X
and anything more than 2666MHZ consider as overclocking.

I really don't understand that, I though newer Bios should make the mother board more stable and compatible?

so I shall stick to the F10 and wait till one day a new Bios will make them work again with no issues

Or update the Bios and just use my Rams on 3000MHz?

or is there other way to make them work without enabling XMP

@ysfm17

could try manually entering in the ram speed, timings and voltage and having SOC at 1.15 to see if that helps .

If not just roll back Bios to one that was working fine with you - if it aint broken- dont fix it. you'll find a lot of users on different board and vendors all have bios or beta bios that works for them and for others it doesn't
there isn't to much difference between 3000 and 3200hz in terms of gaming - if your PCU rendering over a few days at a time then you gain a few extra hours with slower ram

Thank you
Ill try that

if did not work , ill just stick to the one which is working

The BIOS rarely has much to do with what speed the RAM will run at and yes anything over 2666Mhz is not guaranteed at all. Honestly I would stick at 3000Mhz and see if you can improve the RAM timing instead.

Its about compatibility, Ryzen has issue with DDR4, with every BIOS update more RAMs compatibility added. Mine was added on F6 , so I don't understand why with the latest one I had this issue again?
I understand you , but was wishing to keep using my ram with its best

@ysfm17

try F22b seems some one has hit 3600hz on it :)
lot more users getting stable ram speeds on latest bios on US forum

I tried it, still not same issue with XMP
Did not try to do it manually, maybe ill try it later , or wait for new Bios release.

Now am back to F10 as its working fine with me with no problems

by the way, do u have any good link for how to overclock RAMs? i have little knowledge about it , and tried to google it, did not find something really helpful

New f22a seens to be working wonders, lot more support and poeple hitting 3600!

Bios has lots to do with Memory ect as just a few post in this thread proves.

@OP have to ask as to why you did a BIOS update if all was well in the first place ?

Have been lucky at my end, hit 3200 via XMP from the F4 release in may. That's with Hynix based RAM too.

Only if there is an issue in the BIOS. I mean call me skeptical, but 3200MHz RAM is not guaranteed to run on all boards/chipsets. Unless your board manufacturer specifically states there has been an issue with the RAM that required a BIOS update then I really wouldn't go there. Despite all safety measures I have seen hundreds of people trash their motherboards "upgrading" when it wasn't necessary. The thing is though that there is more than one way to skin a cat. Just because a system won't run at 3200 14 14 14 34 isn't the end of the world at all. It may well run at 3000 13 13 13 32 ( and lots of other variations ).

I have try f20/f21 and f22b on my K7. I got 4 stick's with 16gb. When i shutdown and power up again the bios reset itself. All settings will be lost and the boot sequence takes much time. When i use only one or two stick's the f22b bios save my settings correct. With f6, f7b and f10 no problem with all 4 ram's. So i think the ram compatibility is not as good like on f6-f10.

Update is it a update and is necessary like all driver's to be updated. For examplejust why your phone is keeping update google play , why we didnt just stay with googplay from 2010 ....
The problem is come when there is selling/dropped etc.. something that's is not at full tested for compatibility. But even me if i was manufacture let think a bit why should we spend XXX money for testing ,as there are so many people out there who will do the testing for us and we spene money for next innovation. :) and here is a sales department with theres statistics what will be a accepted lost...

Could someone help me out with manual RAM settings on a K7 with FlareX 16GB please. With my 1600 the RAM worked perfect at 3200 using XMP profile. Can't get anything other than 2400 since changing CPU to 2700x.
Thanks

Yes. I put F23d on before swapping out my 1600 and checked RAM was still ok at 3200. I had read sometime last year that a newer BIOS may make things worse. I've actually been running F4 I think up till now.

Might be an idea to do a bios reset. Then set the ram ect .

Performing an extra reset has not helped.
I sadly did not buy the 2700x from Overclockers, only my previous 1600 and other items.

The supplier will not allow me to send the 2700x back for refund unless it is tested as faulty. I can not just leave things are they are as currently my system is running slower than with the 1600 fitted (VRMark gives 10fps less as a reference).
Does anyone know if I bought another set of memory from Overclockers to replace the FlareX, if that doesn't run at 3200Mhz either could I return for refund....or could that be even more money wasted?
