Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Memory Multiplier?

I have a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R with 6GB of 1600mhz RAM. However, in the BIOS I can only select x6 or x8 for the memory multiplier, which gives me a maximum of 1066mhz on the RAM at stock CPU clock (BCLK 133mhz). I'd need an OC of 4Ghz (which I am hoping for anyway) to reach 1600mhz which is meant to be the default for the memory.

What's up with this?

What're you asking? Just annoyed that x8 is the highest multiplier?

200bsck x20 with ram at 200x8=1600 sounds quite nice to me, I think it's what I'm aiming for 24/7

If I bought 1600 Mhz but I didn't want to take my CPU to 4Ghz, there would be no way to run the RAM at 1600 Mhz right?

Surely they can't advertise 1600 Mhz without it being able to run at 1600 Mhz without a huge OC.

1600mhz means its capable of running at 1600mhz stable if the other components do. If I tried to run 1150mhz ram in a crap motherboard with a low end c2d, it serves me right for buying inappropriate ram. Why did you get 1600mhz ddr3 if you don't want to overclock?

I'm surprised there isn't a x10 multiplier. Perhaps only on the better gigabyte boards? I'm sure I've seen reference to it on xtreme, but it was a modded UD5 under discussion. Tried the latest bios or considered a cross flash? Not sure if it's possible for your board, but I think it might be

I do want to overclock, so it's not much of a problem for me. I just thought there would be more than two options for the memory multiplier, there were quite a few in my last asus MB.

I'm a bit surprised too really. The UD5 is my first gigabyte board, I'm also used to asus. I admit I am hoping for more options than x6 and x8 when I boot it up, are you on the latest bios?

I've had a look on google, it suggests that x6 and x8 being the only available options can be tied to a faulty cpu. Here's the thread I'm currently basing this on
