Anyone else got one of these yet ?

I swapped out my ASus P5W DH for one of these yesterday I am just doing some
overclocking stability testing at the moment.

Just curious to see how others are doing

Ok , Iam coming from an Asus P5W DH

Max overclock on it was
3.33G @ 1.4V ram was 740Mhz @ 4-4-4-12 ( Crap Geil ULL ) 2.2V on ram
Ram spd table was limiting factor

SO far
3.51G 1.4250V ram 780 4-4-4-12 2.1V , just testing for stability now

FSBV MCHV RamV
+0.1 +0.1 +0.3

Only Time will tell

Iam hoping to get to 3.6G which would put my ram @ 800

I had a DS3R arrive from OC on Friday, not really started the build yet,
cant decide on the mem, probably go for the ballistix 667 as it's good value and supposedly it clocks well.

keep us posted on how you get on with overclocking it

.

Ok after a bit more mucking about I have got it up to

3.52G Cpu 1.41875V
880Mhz ram @ 4-4-4-12 2.1V
I used an 8 x multi with FSB at 440

FSBV MCHV RamV
+0.1 +0.1 +0.3

The bios reset link is in a really stupid place ( just below my 8800GTX card )
so I have to remove my gfx card to reset the bios when my ocing goes **** up. Also there are no cool bios things like my old Asus had overclocking profiles , so it was easy to switch between ocing profiles.
Another thing I will say about this mobo is that there is no usb back plate for mounting your extra usb ports on your case rear , its an "optional extra"

Apart from these niggles , I do like this board.

Just finished building my DS3R, no problems at all (complete new sys)

Running at 8X400@3200, only thing is I can't find is the settings in Bios to change the memory timings ? someone tell me where they are hiding it :)

Troop.

Press Ctrl+F1 on the main bios screen, that will then give you the memory timing options in the tweaking section.

Pic,

Temps are better that I expected, :)

Got mine Tuesday, and I am very pleased.
I have had it up to 2.9 but decided to let it bed in for a few days so put it down to 2.7. CPU temp is 44/5c running a game, around 24c idle.
The concern I had was the system temp which sits at 51c once warmed up, rising to 59/60 running a game. I contacted Gigabyte who replied today saying the chipset was designed to run up to 100c!
I would not like a chip to run that hot, so I will watch it and perhaps put a fan on the Northbridge. Anyone else give any advice? what is your Northbridge temps like?

I noticed Troop is using a utility from Intel, so I downloaded it. The readings it gives are way above those shown in the health section of the bios, and well above those whown by easy tune 5 supplied by Gigabyte. When Easy Tune 5 shows an idle temp of 24c, which matches that in my bios, TAT shows 37c?
Can anybody explain, am I doing something dumb?

The difference is significant, so I want to be sure which reading is correct.
Many thanks

Yoz, I would tend to believe the Intel tool(TAT)

Need more info off you ........... cpu cooler your using
case cooling ect.

My Temps are with the side case window off, and using a Thermalright ultra 120.

I am using the same memory as you have in your sig, Crucial balistix 5300.

I am using the stock cooler that came with the CPU, could be the problem.

The case is a Thermaltake, uses 4 standard case fans in, (2 at the side and 2 at the front), and three out, (2 at the rear, and one out of the top).

My previous rig was an Asrock dual sata 2 with an AMD4400+ running at 2550 clock using an Artic Freezer Pro with no temp problems.

I will remove the side cover to check if any different, but when I installed it on Tuesday I did not notice any difference to the temps putting it on.

Looks like I will need to uprate the cooler!

Any advice is very welcome, its a little worrying when the monitoring does not match up, but as you say, it is better to believe Intels. Have you compared your readings with the supplied utility?

Yoz,......... I did not install easy tune, I am not a fan of overclocking from inside windows.

Your case coolingwill be fine(a lot better than mine), but if you change the CPU cooler to something better you should see a drop in temps by as much as 10 degrees. Artic freezer pro is the cheapest option for a half decent cooler, Thermalright ultra 120 extreme is the king.

Easy overclock to try is

Set the mem to 1-1

Push the FSB to 333

Leave all the voltages on Auto.

It will boot(hopefully) @3000

Just watch your temps till you have upgraded your cooler.

Many thanks Troop.
I tried the overclock you suggested and it went like a dream. I was unlucky with the AMD4400+, it was a poor overclocker, but this combination is amazing.
I ran a few benchmarks on it, but the temp kept rising so I will wind it down until tomorrow when I buy a decent cooler.
I will post the results, but must say this motherboard is great.
