Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R Overclocking

Troop..

I bought the same cooler as yourself, the Thermaright Ultra 120 and a Silent eagle Fan, (never heard of it before but it was all they had). I installed it OK, though needed to remove the motherboard to fit the plate underneath. I also had to remove one of the side fans so the door would shut, but all very well worth it.
I have a reduction of approx 12c at full load using TAT, also the Northbridge temps have dropped about 5c.
It will run at 53c and 51c for the 2 cores with the case closed, dropping by about 3c removing the side door, all with the cpu at 3000.
I used Artic silver 5, so I know I can expect a further drop in temps over the next week.
Running Orthos, the temps never rise above 44c as shown on TAT.
The fan is spinning at 1600 rpm, and I am sure I could reduce the temps further if I fitted a better fan.

Many thanks for your good advice, I will push it further in a day or so once I am happy all is well, (Orthos has been running for an hour clear up to now).

Il probably be getting one of these so does it seem like a good board? Is it easy to overclock, im gonne be overclocking for the first time so dont want a board which will make it too hard ;)

Got one of these earlier in the week, got it installed the other day!

Seems ok so far, just trying my hand at overclocking...

Currently my e6600 stands at 2.7 without even trying.

Temps seem a lil high compared to my old AMD system at around 50°c on one core and 46°c on the other under full load.

One thing that i did panic about was the CPU fan doesn't start till it posts....is this normal?

:)

Edit : 2.8 @ 51°c. It is quite warm today though, role on winter!!! :p

Bought the P35-DS3R, E2140 1.6 ghz and 4 x 1gb geil pc5300 c4. This is my first Intel system since P200mmx times. It seems very stable and very easy to OC. The bios has several save slots (P35 vanilla only?) so very easy to setup OCing profiles.

Currently at 8x400 for 3.2ghz and the ram at 400mhz 4-4-4.

Can't get TAT to work due to Vista 64bit.

I seem to have hit a brick wall at 3ghz, dont want to push the voltage any further (1.35) due to to temps been slightly high @ 53°c.

Nevermind, lets try pushing my RAM :) its currently at 416mhz @ 4-3-3-12

:D

Edit : One thing that ive noted with this board is that if you push it too much and doesnt post it will revert back to default settings!! Easier than clearing CMOS, especially since the jumper is tucked under my graphics card!!! :D

I have had mine up to 3200 (9x355) with no problems since fitting the Thermalright ultra 120. I left the voltage in auto, I will continue to raise the frequency over the next week.

A bit surprised Raze has hit a brick wall so early. I found the motherboard temp was reading low, (see earlier post in this thread), so perhaps when you think you are at 53 you may be a lot higher. How are you checking your temperature? My motherboard seems to be reading anything from 10c to up to 14c low as shown in the bias and easy tune.
