Gigabyte GA_965P_DS4 Problems

Hi,

Should be greatting the DQ6 board tomorrow!

I am going to setup a RAID 0 on two 320 GB hard Drives.

I will also have a SATA Optical Drive.

Will I have problems?

Thanks

Robert

My DS4 arrived yesterday, all plugged in with an 805D at the moment. I have to say normally I don't like Gigabyte boards but this one seems pretty nice. Will try overclocking tonight or tomorrow :)

So it won't work with an adition Adaptec 1210SA RAID setup as if I got this board I'd run two RAIDs. One for the O/S and one for the data etc.

Hi,

Got the DQ6 version of this board!!!!!

Setup my RAID0 (Using intel Chipset) and load drivers through a USB floppy. Start to laod windows and as soon as 'Starting setup for windows is displayed on the bootkm bar during windows setup, it blue screens with a stop error.

I then take RAID off and the computer is then fine, can find HDD etc.

Any ideas?

I might just run the rig with setting up a RAID, but it would be nice to know why it produces a stop error!!!

The STOP error does not provide much information with regards to the error!

Thats what I wanted to do but Gigabyte are going to have to sort the BIOS as there is no way to boot from RAID in the BIOS :(

sorry to stear off topic slightly all mighty stelly :p but just wandering why you chose the ds4 over the ds3? as i'm currently considering one of these boards.

Ok well...

Better board cooling system, due to the copper pipe system, I hope that this might give better cooling and thus better clocks...

Intel® Matrix Storage Technology - I'm RAIDing and thought that this might come in handy

BIOS crash free protection with Dual BIOS... just incase, you never know with these things... I like updating my BIOS, and so like knowing its going to be ok if I **** it up

Also, and I dont know how true it is, as I have not used the DS3 but according to the Gigabyte website it has enhanced OC potential...

not bad for about £18 difference

hmm true that, theres all sorts of vicious rumours that apparently over at xs people are hitting up to 500fsb with the ds3? just wandering if the same potential clocks are possible on the ds4. as i posted earlier looks as though i'm going to pick up a abit ab9 pro in the mean time as i have been offered one on the dirt cheap! these have been rumoured to be excellent overclocking boards once a newer bios comes out!
