Hi all,

My ''Gigabyte Gaming 3 (1150) latest beta bios'', has (i think) developed an issue with one of its Dimm slots, both matched pairs run fine in 'Single channel mode' yet when all Dimm slots are populated, give a continual beep followed by a shutdown and repeat, inspected and blown with compressed air to clean the slot but with no luck. The memory's a couple of years old, and been solid until now. I've yet to run memtest86 but i have a strong feeling its the slot, all 4 sticks run fine on another mb (as singular matched pairs) it only has 2 Dimm slots. Single channel for gaming is perfectly fine, so the decision i need to make, is do i buy:

2 new x 8GB sticks.
Or
Buy a new MB (1150).
Or
Build a new DDR4 rig?

I don't think there will be any real gain building a New 'i7 DDR4 Rig' over my i7 DDR3 Rig, the difference in performance won't be of any real significance....or am i wrong?. Any thoughts welcome.

Have you tried cleaning the DIMMs themselves? Simply take a clean rubber and run it along the contacts. You say you think it's the slot: have you identified one particular slot?

Could be a bent pin in the cpu socket. You may be able to straighten it out.

Or sometimes an over tightened cooler can cause the problem. Could either be permanent damage or loosening or replacing the cooler might fix it.
