Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

Your board will take any cpu from Haswell/Haswell refresh/Devils Canyon so everything up to and including the i7 4790k. The cpu support list can be seen here. You need at least bios version F9 installed (F11 is the latest).

If you need to update the bios do it while your current cpu is installed. You simply download the latest bios from here and put it on a USB stick. Reboot the pc and enter the bios. Under the Tools tab you will find Gigabytes bios flashing tool, Q-Flash. Click on it and follow the instructions and point it to the USB stick. Let it do it's thing and when finished it will either reboot or prompt you to reboot. Let it reboot and you are good to go. Do not interrupt power while the flash is taking place or it will brick the board. Do not use any Windows based software to flash the bios either. Always use the built in tool.

If you have bios version F9 installed already there is no need to update and you can drop any cpu in the list in the board.

My Wifes Gigabyte B85M-D3H is a fine overclocker too. It overclocked my old 4670k to 4.4Ghz with exactly the same settings as my much more expensive Asus Z87 Hero. Not bad for a board that only cost £52 and isn't supposed to be able to overclock.
