Gigabyte mobo not working with corsair PSU

ClearCMOS.

Is there a dualBIOS switch to try the backup BIOS.

Build the rig outside of the case.

You running the bare minimum needed to boot up?

The only incompatibility I know off is the AX760i and 860i not working with the Z87X-OC and OC force because of the OC Ignition feature.

Have access to another unit?

Is this a new board? you haven't damaged any socket pins? or overtightened an aftermarket cooler causing the board to bend and cause a fault?

Yeah new board, everything was installed correctly, it's the exact same issue as in that vid except mine does not power on at all. The PSU makes a clock noise when you power on, PSU works as I hot wired it.

It was working perfectly on my asus p8z68-v and 3770k five days a go. So I can only assume it's the same problem as that guy was having in the vid. Question is do I rma the board as I know there is an 1.1 revision that might work with my psu.

ive seen psus work fine on other boards and not on gigabyte

could be the board,im just saying gigabyte can be picky with power supplies

if you could beg/borrow another just to be 100% sure

oh and did u do bare minimum setup? no hdd's/ssd's/usb devices/graphic card and just one ram stick?

Yeah done all that, same thing. It booted up only the once on first boot, it let me get as far as the bios setup and it powered off and will not turn on again.

tried backup bios switch if you have it?

or tried this

is possible to make the BIOS Auto-Recovery kick in (Dual BIOS) and re-flash the MAIN BIOS with the contents of the BACKUP BIOS.

This is a simple and easy method for anyone to try before having to resort to other more difficult methods, or a RMA.

1. Shut off the power supply using the switch on the back of the PSU, wait 10-15 seconds.
2. Press and hold the case Power On swtich, then while still holding turn on the power supply from the switch on the rear.
3. Still holding the case power on switch, the board will start, once it does release the case power on switch and shut off the power supply via the switch on the read of the unit. (Do the latter two parts as quickly as you can once the board starts)
4. The board will shut down.
5. Turn the power supply back on using the switch on the rear of the unit.
6. Turn on the motherboard by pressing the case power on button.

Once the board starts this time you should see the Gigabyte splash screen, or POST page, then the Auto-Recovery from Dual BIOS will kick in. You will see a checksum error, and then recovery from BACKUP BIOS will begin. Once it is done reboot your machine and enter the BIOS and load optimized defaults then save/apply/reboot back to BIOS.

Now you are done, and will be using whatever BIOS was in your BACKUP BIOS, From there you can attempt whatever you were previously trying, or update your BIOS to the latest version.

just incase its a corrupted bios

EDIT: scratch that if its not spinning the fans, but still worth a try I guess

Thanks for the help but still no go. It's got to be the PSU, especially seeing the numerous other people with similar issues, will find out tomorrow hopefully.

Another thing is I have an Intel Pentium G3220 as a stop gap to a 4770k, now I notice on the giga website that that CPU is supported with bios version F7. If this mobo is running an older bios would that cause it not to boot?

I bought a Gigabyte G1 sniper z87, plugged it into my Lepa 750w psu, wouldn't fire up or even attempt to load the bios, not even the fault code led lit up, nothing.

Tried my 700w cooler master silent psu, same thing.

RMA the mobo, new one arrived, plugged in 700w psu and away it went.

Some mobos are just doa it seems :( since then however my replacement mobo has developed a fault with the CPU fan header.

Just bad luck I guess, RMA the mobo and you should get a working replacement.

Hey RavenXXX2, unless the PSU is faulty I doubt it's incompatable as I've got the same PSU as you and used mine with Asus / Gigabyte AMD 790FX Chipsets, MSI / Gigabyte Intel Z68 / Z77 Chipsets motherboards with no problems.

I feel abit bad. I've sold about 10 motherboards on here and only had one I didn't use that was faulty but I got that sorted with Abit, was years ago.

Is their any LED Code or does it not even get that far?

I bought it within a month of it being released i.e. June 2013, so it will be most likely be on a pre-release BIOS, so it might well be the case.

If it does come down to RMA the motherboard, I'll send you £20+ to cover expense or how much it costs for return, wish I had actually used the motherboard myself now as I've got the same PSU as you.

No need to feel bad mate **** happens. I'll test another PSU tomorrow and if that does not help I will have to try and get hold of a CPU it supported on release to update bios. And if still no luck RMA the ****, but who to RMA to, place of purchase or gigabyte?

If you or Nelly can't update the BIOS. Then I can assuming you can send and collect.

send and collect?
