My motherboard just emitted about a minute of short beeps for no apparent reason while I was browsing the web. The PC had been on for about an hour, normal temps, not doing anything particularly extraordinary with it. Anyone know what this means?

The NB heatsink was hot to touch (had it at +0.1v for RAM stability) so I've turned the voltage down. It's been running fine like that for a few months though, don't see why that would have suddenly become an issue.

Hmm, beebs are usually power issues, not quite sure in this case, check in the manual or on gagabyte support, they're usually good with any queries I have. Has the beep occured since then? If the PC had been on for an hour or so it's not uncommon that the NB heatsink will be hot. It's possible this was one of the onboard alarms, there are a load of them in the BIOS, such as fan failure alarms, CPU overheat etc. etc. check to see if it was something like that. Let me know what happens

It hasn't gone off since, and has been on all day today. Will have a look at Gigabyte's support.

EDIT: It just happened again. Oddly enough, when it occurs everything works fine while it is beeping (music, mouse cursor, internet, everything) except my keyboard, which was new yesterday. When I hit ctrl+alt on the keyboard, it stops. I did this last time in the process of hitting ctrl alt del, and the beeping stopped, and tried it again just now and it worked. It also happened both times while I was typing. This is weird!!! Any ideas?

Many keyboards are only capable of responding to a max of 3 keystrokes, press a fourth key and your pc will beep. Either your new keyboard has stuck key/s or you're typing too ruddy fast :D

Hey you're right! It happens if I hit 4+ keys and enter. It's just strange that it keeps beeping rather than beeping once.
