***Gigabyte R9 280X review***

Were those Tomb Raider benches at maximum using 4xAA or just set to the ultimate preset which uses FXAA?

It's just that the TR bench thread runs at ultimate + 2xAA and it takes a 7970 @1250-1300 to hit 60fps average.

Either way, very nice review :)

Just checked

It was the ultimate preset but with shadows also set to ultra as usually its on high.

Edit,

You lucky I haven't pulled the test system apart yet so can run the same settings as the TR thread,

Crossfire, 1440p,

min = 50.6, max = 81.7, avg = 66.5

Do either of your Gigabyte 280X cards have any coil whine? I've had 2 so far and both have annoying coil whine with some games and benchmarks :(. Also, did Gigabyte clean off the remaining solder flux on the back of your cards? Both of mine had this crap looking residue on the PCB!

Cheers!

Fan noise is all I can hear when both are going for it.

As for the rear of the cards, they look shiny if that's what you mean?

Hope you took a screenshot so you can post that in the thread :D

Would you recommend then?

Also, would a 600W Coolermaster be enough?

For one card, yes :)

Sorry for bringing up an old thread ... but great review ! I'm getting the card myself for a 3rd PC :)

I'm just wondering have you tried removing the sticker at the PCI-E connector ?
I just saw this !;
