Hi all,

Yet another 2080 ti thread.... I’m trying to figure out which cards will be using the reference PCB so I can stick a water block on.

Anybody know if the gigabyte gaming will feature a custom PCB, or will use the reference design?

Thanks!

I think every card is a reference PCB is this round of releases, I mean the triple can cards you can clearly see the PCB is to small for the cooler

That is what I thought, but I just saw a preview vid of the msi true gaming from oc3d, and it is defo a custom card with 6+8+8 pcie connector, so not sure anymore...

I've ordered the windforce and ek waterblock, the ek configurator shows it being compatible. Besides £100 what is the actual difference between the gaming and the windforce?

According to EK's compatibility list for their 2080 Ti Vector block, only the Windforce 2080 Ti is listed.

However, according to Gigabyte's site, the Gaming uses the same Windforce cooler, both cards have the same PCI-E plugs, but listed dimensions are different.

I'd personally drop Gigabyte pre-sales a message and ask them if the PCB is the same for both cards.
I sent them a message but they said they couldn’t say yet in the response (I mean seriously wtf). This launch is a complete mess, I’m gonna be pretty unhappy if it turns out the gaming oc isn’t reference tbh. Wish there was more info out there. Sounds like availability is going to be even worse than previously though too, so preordering another card doesn’t look to be a viable option. Almost regret not just getting the FE direct from Nvidia now.

Yeah I wish I'd pre ordered the fe too especially as they will probably have the better binned chips, if only nvidia had provided performance information from the beginning

Windforce looks 2 slot gaming looks 2.5 slot

It's the same cooler.

Well the card hasn't officially launched so NDAs are still in place, so it's entirely understandable and correct that Gigabyte wouldn't say, although I am a little surprised they declined to talk about a PCB, especially when their own pictures show it's probably the same.

What exactly is "messy" about this launch? It's unusual that Nvidia have been so silent on official performance figures, but other than that it's the same old thing: card is announced, NDAs in place for as long as possible, pre-orders start, too many people pre-order, shipping dates get pushed back. It happens every time. But with the greatest respect, you jumped in feet first totally blind and made assumptions based on very little information; you wish there was more information out there, but pulled the trigger anyway?

Personally I think the Gaming and the Windforce will be the same PCB, but it's up to you if you want to gamble on that fact, or cancel your pre-orders and actually wait until you have a modicum of information to work with. Hopefully this will all come out OK for you.

Go full bore mad and spend £1640 on a block and a strix card for the lulz :p

Hi all,

Sorry I have been working at the EGX show so not had a chance to read this. Sorry for going dark again, there will be more custom card coming soon. The AORUS range is not far away and those are our OC gaming versions.

Did anyone ever find a answer to this question? I ordered this card quick when it came in stock thinking I was buying the windforce one. Now i'm kicking myself for buying the wrong one. If I can't get a water block for it ill have to find someone to buy it and head back out there and try to track another one down. Gigabyte support is completely useless. Their only response is "This card cools with air not cool with water".

Hello all,

All the "current" 20 series cards are based on the original NVIDIA reference PCB. If you buy the standard blocks for those they will fit, we will be introducing new cards which will have our own designed PCB.
