Hi all,

woke up this morning to carry on writing my dissertation, due in this friday and found my computer wont boot.

i'm getting a continuous tone from the speaker header, and the same when i take out the graphics card and both sticks of ram. ive tried clearing CMOS with no luck at all.
Kinda in need of fixing this sharpish, on monday at the latest lol. i'm ok for getting the work etc. so its not as if i want to use this as an excuse for my dissertation lol.

i know the silent treatment from this board usually means its dead but this time its making noise at me and i have no idea why.

is it likely to be the mobo or the CPU ?

Hi Matt,

I had a similar thing happen to mine while i was overclocking. If i took it too far it just reset and did a horrible long beep.

All i did was unplug it and bridge the cmos clear pins. Then plugged it back in a tried again.

DS3's seem really temperamental at BIOS level no matter how new the BIOS is! Sometimes i had to repeatedly press the reset button to get it to boot. But once it does you should be fine for a while.

One of my thoughts is that the RAM voltage isn't high enough for my GEIL's as when i do get into the BIOS the ram status indicates a failure. However, in practical use i see no explenation as the PC runs faultlessly!

Let me know how you get on! :)

oook, it works again now lol..

had to take the graphics card and ram out.. take the CMOS battery out, put a jumper on the CMOS clear pins for an hour and then re-start it with one stick of ram in.

that was a shocking time this morning lol.

cheers for the help :D
