On the DS4, which are the better SATA ports to use? Yellow or Purple, as I understand it the yellow are Intel and the Purple are Gigabyte ones, I had a SATA drive on a purple socket previously but the performance wasn't that great.

I'd go with the Intel ports. There's nothing wrong with the Gigabyte ones really, they're on the PCIe bus so no real bandwidth issues, but if you don't use them they can be disabled in the BIOS and it's one less device/driver for Windows to load.

Definetly the Intel ports which are the yellow ones. The purples ones are quite flakey (they are JMicron sata ports and requre a driver). When I use the JMicron ones I tend to find problems like the hard drive locks when downloading a large file and it reaches 100% and takes about 10 seconds to unlock whilst it tries to put it on the Desktop.

Intel ones though, perfick :)

Thanks muchly. I take it I wouldn't need a driver for the Intel ones during the Vista install if I'm not using RAID would I?
Aye, won't need a driver for the Intel ports.
