Gigabyte X48T - BIOS F5 - AVOID

Just wanted to let people know that they should AVOID BIOS F5 dated 18th July.
Flashing this BIOS will brick your mobo.

Too late for me - it flashed successfully, but now just reboots over and over, won't even post.

Not sure I'm comfortable shorting out pins on the mobo though - think it's going to have to go back for repair.
 
they should make them like this..

2x bios chips, if everything's working fine & dandy, you can copy one to the other

then if you flash one, and it fails, use a jumper onboard to select the other bios chip, boot in with that, and copy that back to the main one

simple & effective
 
eh, I thought that the backup bios on gigabyte board is not flashable? Im sure it says something like the in the manual
 
if you read the gigabyte forums (tweaktown) it seems the backup bios fails to act a lot of the time :/
