Gigabyte Z87 boot failure - HELP !!

Was going to get the gigabyte board for my build but the teething problems are putting me off.

Are these boards ok with Samsung greens?

Yes they are, Shadow Boxer is using Greens to good effect in the super pi leader board.
 
Oh man, four restarts this morning before windows finally loaded, as Bluebook says, everything is stable once it's up and running, I really hope it is just a ram issue as it'd be a real pain to have to swap out the mobo.

I'll post back once I've swapped the ram.
 
I'm getting excatly the same problems as OP describes since I bought my new set up on 3rd June and its driving me insane. It's not the ram as I bought new ram 2 days ago

I have a similar thing with my new build. The reboot loop thing happens, but it doesn't seem to boot into windows at all. If I power down the machine by using the hard switch on the PSU, and then leave it for 20-30 secs and switch it back on, then it works fine. I can boot into windows and play games, use applications, etc, with no problems.

I've tried it without any gfx card (using just the integrated gfx) and with 2 different graphics cards (7970 and 6850), and it does it with all of these configs. I've reseated all power connectors. I've switched the memory from one pair of slots to the other pair of slots.

I've not looked at XMP settings at all. Nor have I done anything with the BIOS.

I've got:
Gigabyte Z87-D3HP
Intel i5-4670k
Shadow Rock Pro SR1 Cooler
8Gb Samsung Green 1600
 
OK, have swapped crucial ram for Corsair, I have done several restarts and 3 power off on starts and all working just fine, it does appear that there are some compatibility issues with crucial ram, board is now a pleasure, just hope it keeps working like this, I hold my breath every time I start up expecting it shut off lol.
I'll of course post back if any further issues, get dumping that crucial ram guys.
 
Guys, dont forget Gigabyte posted the RAM QVL above so you can check. This mobo does seem a little fussy on what memory you can use but is a good board. I was stressing that day but as wazza said - stick with it. I was lucky enough to have spare/different RAM I could use in order to identify the problem. good luck...
 
its worth the time to email gigabyte uk and tell them the issue with that board and model of crucial memory,they can only fix it if they know about it,should be an easy bios fix to get them working

keep a regular check on this thread for updated beta bios's,remember you can flash back n forth to any bios version

just make sure you pick the correct bios for your motherboard model/chipset
 
I'm having problems with my Z87-HD3 recognizing the SSD (Kingston SNV425S2128GB)

Its erratic, sometimes the drive shows up in the bios and sometimes it doesn't.

I'm using the same memory I had in my P67-G45 - Crucial BL25664BN1608.16FF

No other issues with the board, flashed to the latest F4 Bios.

I heard it might be certain SSD controllers so I bought a new Sandisk Pro 256MB but after booting a few times, now it wont even boot up into the bios if that drive is plugged into the machine. :( Unplug it and plug back the Kingston and I'm back to where I was, I can get it to boot up but not on a reboot, I have to hard reset then go into the bios and tell it to force boot from the Kingston if it is recognised.

Could it be the memory? If it is, I'm stuffed because I didn't buy this memory new with the Z87, its the memory from my old motherboard.
 
Just tried swapping the memory for Kingston Hyper Beast KHX16C9T3K4/16X kit I had lying around for another build, but no difference.
 
Yes tried that. Wierd thing is the Sandisk was working fine for a little while, but now no matter what sata port I connect it to the bios locks up on the Gigabyte flash screen. Remove the Sandisk SSD and it boots up fine.

Gonna put the Sandisk in another machine and see if I can access it.
 
Yes I'm on the F5f beta bios, I put the Sandisk in a USB caddy and wiped the partition out, going to try again.
 
All working now. Reformatted the Sandisk and transfered the partition over and its fine. No boot problems.

In case GB Man is reading, my memory works fine too.
