Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 7 and i7 4770K Voltage always increasing problem

The power circuitry and traces to the cpu would be from the side and above the socket as thats where the MOSFETS etc are located. That trace will be signalling to the chipset/PcI slots I would have thought.

Is your version of system info viewer upto date? mine say this when I hover over it,

Edit, just seen your HWmonitor pic, hmmmmm.

SIV B14.0707.1 for the version, I downloaded the latest versions of the software from Gigabytes website as I dont run a CD/DVD drive these days.

This being said the BIOS is reporting about the same VCore readings.

Im guessing CPUZ is taking the CPU's Voltage sensor and the Gigabyte software and UEFI are taking the motherboards voltage draw sensor

The BIOS should be showing the correct value.

I'd actually be inclined to get hold of Gigabyte support and send them both items for testing.

What do you think about the scratch, the three lines are exposed but they are grazzed not cut from what I can see.

I'm not all that happy at the thought of lossig my only rig for weeks and weeks while they test them :(

Definitely appears to be faulty/buggy sensors though.

All of the voltage readings from the motherboard in HWMonitor seem to be incorrect. If you look down to VID under the 4770k it's showing the correct voltage.

If it were truly putting more than 2v through your 4770k it'd be long dead by now.

EDIT: Just seen the board has voltage read points. Probably worth checking them with a multimeter to see if it's hardware or software issue.

yep,it would be "frying tonight" with 2v

I reckon you have either buggy software hwmonitor or a stuck sensor

its normal for the voltage to scale up and down according to the cpu loads, but it shouldn't be hitting 2v if it did it would kill the cpu within seconds/minutes

I doubt its that scratch also, though I would be tempted to seal it

you're wasting your time with this mobo, Gigabyte will not help you.

this mobo isn't working, it's buggy as hell, you need to RMA it

I have install insurance with this mobo and the company have agreed to take it back and replace the board under the scheme.

I'm looking for a replacement board now so I can have one for tomorrow to swap this out, I'm looking at a black edition since it will have had 7 days of benching so I know it works.

gigabyte are good brand, you could have had a stuck sensor which can happen

try another and take things from there

Hi, Dont know if this is related but I also got Z97x gaming 7 but with 4790k, on switch on the sata cables started melting and smoking, I have never seen this before?
