Gigaclear 900Mbps Fibre not so Clear

I find mine to be very good all told and feel quite lucky that our area in West Oxfordshire has a blanket rollout to even quite remote properties.

I do see some congestion occasionally, although i think that this is fairly inevitable with a high bandwidth connection. I dont test very often these days as i have been a customer for a while now, but it will usually always show the same ~940/940 type results to select speed test servers if you pick a few and find the best one.

Wireless you should never expect to see very high bandwidth, my APs are fairly old now (i run 4*Meraki MR33 items) and although i have very good consistent coverage via these, they hit nothing like 1gbit.

In short i think the GC network seems pretty good, generally congestion will be felt only on links out to the wider internet or elsewhere.

Hi Jez thanks for the info

when you tested for them results was it straight from the modem to a PC with nothing else on the system?
That's how I've been testing and used many different test sites and they all vary but nothing above 400Mbps on the Gigaclear speed checker site it is the lowest at a max now of 250Mbps download.
just feel I'm being fobbed off by Gigaclear support being told its working right and 250Mbps is expectable.

If you don't mind me asking when you had the install done did the engineers test anything or set anything up?
Mine just told me to look for the Gigaclear Wifi type in the password and they were off.

I then had to connect the Linksys Velop system

Why would you pay for a 900Mbps service that is slower than their 300mbps service?

700-800 would be the bare minimum expected on that sort of service, saying less than 1/3 of the 'average' advertised speed is not on.

My experience of the install and testing wont be of too much help unfortunately as my situation sounds a little different, and I dont have the same termination unit as you by the sounds of it. I have a Genexis router, on which the wireless has always been disabled as it is known to be no good at all (and on a quick test, barely leaks out of my utility room let alone managing to cover a whole floor of the house). The Genexis feeds my own network via a single wired port and then my switches and structured cabling take over and feed the various APs and wired devices in the main house and also my external office building.

The install at mine was largely self installed through my own situation. The engineers were not happy to run the quantity of interior cable through floor voids and joists that i required to access my utility room rack location (i had all the floors up, etc) - so i ended up doing most of it myself. They did all of the external digging and terminating at the street, which was the hard bit to be fair(!) They also (completely understandably) didnt want anything to do with my internal network, and only had a phone on them for testing which was clearly no good at all. In the end i just installed the Genexis into my rack, they connected the fibre, did a small bit of config on it (via their phone and its internal wireless, before disabling that on request), i then connected it up to my LAN, and did a quick sign off from there with them using a laptop (of mine) connected via ethernet. All subsequent tests have just been in situ, from a desktop in my office through ethernet.

Thanks for the Update

Sounds like you have the setup I'm trying to achieve.
The Engineers at mine done no internal tests be it wired or wireless No idea what was done if any tests outside.

Been on to Gigaclear again today and have to record all my speed tests and screen shot and send them over now
using 3 internet search engines and 3 test each at different times through the day
so far between 220-280Mbps Down and 300-820Mbps Up the Upload has massively gone up now was only getting about 340 Upload over the last few days

I don't know enough but to get them high uploads surely something is restricting the download speed
if I was on a lesser package surely it wouldn't go up to 800Mbps upload
