Gilly posed an interesting question tonight....

i'll get behind most of the English teams, with Liverpool being the exception. I don't know what it is but i truly dislike Liverpool.

I think I feel similar, although I don't hope they lose. I don't care however if they get knocked out of a competition in the same way I would be if Man United or Arsenal got knocked out. Probably because I like the way Man United and Arsenal play football, but dislike Liverpool's. Nowadays I simply refuse to watch them because they bore me that much!

I forgot about Liverpool, can't say I cheer them on at all. Many supporters are on a par with Man Utd's in terms of arrogance however theirs has even less foundation. I'd like tham to win tonight so they take some confidence into the cup game at the weekend.

arsenal are in direct competition with man utd though. they are probably the team i would least likely see man utd play in the next round.

in truth i wanted to see arsenal play bad, if only to hope that their bad form in the champ league will spill over into the premiership. alas i feel that although arsenal arent really that good in EU, in england they are top notch.

though a man utd vs arsenal game in the champ league would be highly intriguing:
arsenal vs man utd = better domestic team vs better EU team

the result would be very unpredictable.

The thing is even last season we were poor in europe but our premiership form seemed to get better and better. I dunno whats wrong with us in europe, we have played some absoulte super games in europe, e.g. levkusen 4-1 last yr, juve 3-1, psv 4-0, roma 3-1 but then we have played crap in some, i really cant understand why we dont do better =/

Id like to see man utd in the final if we get there, first it will show the english league is as good if not better than the others, also if we beat u there it will be the greatest moment in arsenal's history ever :D

I can, as both Man Utd and Arsenal have the right types of teams to do well in Europe, while it seems the others are inconsistent enough to allow our teams to beat them. I must admit though I think an Arsenal - Real Madrid final would be an exceptional game of football to watch.

You would rather see Arsenal at OT with a crack at the cup than two foreign teams?

nope. it would be great to see any english team in the EU cup final. however, realistically, man utd are the only team capable of getting there (arsenal might not even make the quarter finals). and man utd dont look capable of taking on the best teams, this year. of course my opinion would change if they could win EVERY SINGLE LEAGUE game till the end of the season (this would see them get 85 pts which should win them the title, unless arsenal do something exceptional) and this would probably give confidence to players/supporters in the CL.

there is nothing more than i would like than to see man utd win at old trafford.

I'm confused, you contradicted yourself.

My question was (come with me on this one), would you rather see two big European (Non-English) teams playing in the final at OT or would you rather see Arsenal playing a Non-English team, giving Arsenal a chance at the cup?

Most of the time i don't actually care, but i usualy support British teams, i also like to support any team that are playing Man U. I have supported them about 2 times ever and that was when they played Bayern as i don't like them. Other than that, it's english teams to win cept ManUre to loose.

if man utd were out of the competition then i guess i would rather see arsenal or newcastle in the final than non english sides. that way the english league gets greater priority in years to come when allocating slots to EU comps. also i just want english clubs to beat spanish clubs. spain is getting too good these days.

Ah, OK.

I'd NEVER want to see another English club take a European Championship at Elland Rd. Ever.

lol. well arsenal are kind of good at old trafford. im now thinking arsenal (now that their 1-0 days of the late 80s/early 90s) play better on a larger ground like at OT, rather than the narrow pitch at Highbury which used to suit their defensive style.
