Exactly what Freefaller said. It isn't about being an 'internet God' - it's about the countless hours spent doing all the behind-the-scenes stuff that often goes un-noticed by the masses, and taking the torrents of abuse that sometimes happen when someone gets 'unjustifiably' banned, and all the other stuff too.

Be a shame for Gilly to call it a day. Didn't always agree with what he said, but you could count on him to be consistent in how he moderated which can only be a good thing.

Gilly has given a lot of his time to moderating the forums here over the years. He has done it unpaid and entirely of his own free will.

Many people on here, myself included, have met the fella a few times and he is good crack to have a beer with.

What is so sycophantic about a thread that lets people know and gives them the opportunity to say thanks and good luck, is beyond me.

Ever signed a leaving card for someone at work etc ? Same thing here.

If you don't agree with this thread then fine but I am a little confused as to why you feel the need to beat your chest and swing from the chandelier to make yourself heard about it.

I think I'll echo this. Gilly has been such a big part of this community for so long it's a shame to lose him, the only upside is that he's quitting for a good reason :)

If anyone deserves the Man of Honour avatar, Gilly does. Maybe he'll pop in time to time?
