i've downloaded the Leopard version of GIMP (GIMP-2.6.4-Leopard-universal.dmg), but when installed the icon looks like this:

gimp.jpg

and the program does nothing (the gimp icon is in the dock fine, but the menu bar at the top just says GIMP and nothing else...)

any ideas?

That overlay is placed on the icon of an application downloaded from the internet until you first launch it and have agreed to the popup warning of the risk of running programs from the net.

However, sounds like the install broke before you could launch it properly the first time. I'd suggest removing it (an all the plist preference files) and then re-installing

Nope, it did the same again :(

Might just download it again and if that doesn't work god knows

... re-downloaded, reinstalled, same thing :( ahh well - i'm a photoshop man i was just installing it to help a mate out he couldn't work out how to do something and i was gonna have a go for him...

no matter :)

i have i think, it installs with leopard as far as i know... it was tiger where it was optional...

how can i check though? there is an X11 folder in my usr folder... does that mean i have it?

I thought that was the icon you got when you were trying to use a PPC app on an Intel machine of vice versa.

There's a later version of X11 past the Leopard DVD that works (a later patch broke it).

I think I posted a link to the later version in the sticky.
