It certainly sucks real bad, and I actually have a close friend who has the same issue. Although his is paired with a rather bad case of the "runs" too.

Its not really effected his ability to have a good time (again he is in his 20's)

As for her being shy just remind her that everyone else will be drunk so making a fool of herself will be forgotten about by most anyway.

Yes but if there's a solution to the problem, then she doesn't have to give up drinking forever. Obviously for the short term then it's a good idea, but if I said to you 'stop jerking off if it hurts Hank_Marvin', you wouldn't just go 'ok fine good idea', you'd try to find a solution as to why it hurts to tease one out.
