Girlfriends, how many is too many ?

Aye, do what I do - live with my mates and use random birds to get laid
Mates are far better than girlfriends for companionship, they want to talk about the same stuff as you do and don't get in a huff when you're wandering around town and looking at other girls
It would seem that you have the wrong type of women. A good, long term partner is a better companion than your mates and doesn't mind you looking at other birds.
I said this to my wife the other day when she was watching Coast on BBC iPlayer:
I don't like this episode as it doesn't have Dr Alice Roberts in it! I say.
She responds: Who is she?
*google*
She looks at the picture and says: Oh that red head.
I drool for a bit and she laughs.

2 Relationships - 1 for about 1 year - the next for 6 years, then I married her and we've been married for 9 years this year.

I only count 3 as "girlfriends" I had "stuff" with many many more so I guess it depends on your point of view.

I know Gilly pretty well (on a personal level) I can tell you that he has no difficulties in reeling them in. I don't know how he does it as he's an ugly **** but he does it!

I've had lots of girlfriends but only 3 relationships, a girlfriend for me is someone you have fun with you get on with and have a bit of female company to balance you out. A relationship is someone that has potential to make you want to stay with them a long time. So time doesn't mean anything you could be in a relationship after a couple of weeks IMO.

lol i class relationships as 3months+ as well.
so in my reckoning that would be 4 since 18. i'm 27 next week. 2 of them totalled 4 years though and i have my time of intending to stay single for anything up to a year so i kinda of put myself off the market in those times.
actual gf's/dating would be a lot higher if less than 3 months as i used to split with a lot of girls before 3 months.

I don't think there is such a thing as too many, but personally I view double figures as being high.
I also think however that different people have different attitudes to 'relationships'. I've met people who date for 3 months+ but I still wouldn't class them as being in a proper relationship, e.g. one or other is cheating on them. Likewise relationships in the early/mid teens can often be more a case of developing socially rather than genuine love. So some people who can list dozens of prior relationships probably wouldn't meet my criteria for a proper relationship.
