Im thinking about buying an Xbox 360, but at the moment i have a great gaming PC and im going to be getting a PS3 in November (hopefully). There doesn't seem to be a lot of great games out right now, but there are a few at least. What great games are going to be coming out this year? Also how does Xbox Live compare to playing PC games online?

For the 3rd thread in an hour...

Burnout Revenge!

It's also an awesome console, with a great community playing it from OcUK (see http://www.the-reviewer.co.uk to see the list) and some great games already - Burnout Revenge, Call of Duty 2 (better than the PC version), Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (better than PC version), Oblivion (better than PC version... imo), Tomb Raider Legend (better than PC version), Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo, Dead or Alive 4, Perfect Dark Zero.

hi.
the machine is a bargain at the price.
xbox live is amazing much better than pc gaming everybody will tell you that.
and regards games looking into the future their appears to be some amazing games coming out.
i have got a top spec pc but find myself playing on live with the 360 its much more fun.
lots of great people playing on their and you will find you get a good friends list very quickly.
cheers ian.

Must admit i'm not a huge console fan but I bought one anyway and haven't looked back. Only have PGR3 and Hitman at the mo but i'd deffinitely recommend taking a look.

All RPGs either made by BioWare or original version by BioWare. I can't wait for any of these.

Mass Effect
Jade Empire 2
Knights of the Old Republic 3

Though all are way off at the moment still, and KOTOR3 is yet to be 100% confirmed as a game still, but is no doubt in production.

Bought one about 2 hours ago as it was either do that or upgrade my PC. No regrets Gotham racing has blown me away and it even looks great on my rubbish 15 year old telly

hi.
wait till you see it on a lcd hd tv and playing on live with your mates it will then really blow you away.
the live part of it is probably one off its best features.
have fun cheers ian.

I have a 20 inch Philips PC monitor, won't be buying a HDTV until December, does it still look good on a 1680*1050 monitor?

CRT or TFT? It'll look as good as anything else running using the VGA cable, you'll just not get the best out of it in my opinion if it's not widescreen.

Stick it at 1280x720 and it will look stunning. I am not sure of all the available resolutions on VGA cable, but there are some higher than 1280, so it will look great.

The Xbox360 renders everything at 720 IIRC, so it scales great.

Scaling by the 360 wont be the problem, it's if his monitor can scale it and keep it looking good without it running at optimum resolution is the problem.

Sorry, its a widescreen TFT, its just the resolution is different to 720p. Im presuming it scales well (or hoping :p )

1360x768 is the max resolution the 360 will put out via the VGA cable. Why not try it on your Philips in windows and see how it looks.

If your into gaming nothing comes close to it right now and to be honest even when the PS3 arives i cant see it offering anything better

If you buy wireless controllers you can still turn it on/off using the guide button without walking over and pressing the button on the front, so when your done you can stuff it down the sofa with the other remotes

mate went out and bought one next day after i told him that :D
