Just bought new system from overclockers. The Ultima OC 8800GTS SLI system. Runs fine except when running games. Will run games for various amounts of time(5 - 20 mins) then screen goes blank and display drivers have to be retrieved. Got latest drivers. Ran 3dmark06, got all the way through test, both single and SLI. (13000+ and 15000+ results). Is there something simple I can do or will I have to contact Overclockers?.

Seem to run ok with single card but in SLI soon dumps me out of game and gives me nvlddmkm failed and restoring drivers, or something like that. Lookin on the net it seems a common problem.
 
Most probably a driver issue then.

Might need updating to stabilise. What forceware drivers are you using?

Would be worth contacting OCUK just to let them know of the problem (they may have had others calling about it and know of a fix) and see if you are ok updating the drivers yourself.

Most likely drivers.

It could possibly be an issue with the PSU not giving enough juice (maybe faulty?) Or the cards over heating.

However it is most likely to be an issue with drivers, I would simply call OCUK up and ask them (as already mentioned) if you are ok doing driver updates and whatever, or if they will give tech support.

Using 169.25, which are the latest ones, i think. Just annoying when things don't work. There's some beta ones but don't know if its a good idea to use or not.
 
The performance of the betas varies... some people find them good, some don't. I have the 174.93 betas on Windows Server 2003, and i have no issues whatsoever: the issues i do have come from F@H... an occasional BSOD, but then again, given the work hours of my PC it's acceptable... (maybe 3 a week with 18 hour uptime)

Call up OcUK and let them know, they should be able to sort things out fer ya
 
Try 174.74s they fixed all the problems I was having with 169.xx - including with 169.21 I was getting dumped out of games (with no error) after 30-60 minutes so it could be a related problem with 169.25.

If that doesn't fix it - just try dropping your RAM speed to 333 (667MHz) bit weird suggestion in context I know but its fixed the problem for some people with older nForce boards and SLI when they get nvlddmkm failure.
 
just to help you out here

i had a 7600GT that was dieing and nv drivers would crash a lot every hour or so.

got replacement from ocuk

a refrub 7600GT Never had it since (didnt even reinstall the driver as both had same clocks)

never had it since touch wood :D

tried 174.74s, just made drop of single card play aswell. Looks like its another phone call to Overclockers. Already had a none overclocked system plus a motherboard that died. LoL, not a good start and i haven't had the system 5 days.

Been reading some webpages and this file not repsonding seems to be my problem. And looks like loads of people are having the probelm. No one is sure how to solve it. Great,

Took it back to Overclockers. They said it was the RAM and swopped it for new. Played crysis for 45 mins (was crashing after 5 -10 mins) and didn't crash. Yay.. hopefully thats it.
 
Yeah it's funny how we are all guilty of looking for the big problem without doing the Basic logical tests first ! modern memory can get quite hot and fail but it's generally the last thing we associate with these sort of problems ;)

pffft, speak for yourself ! After four sets of crucial balistix dieing on me its the very first thing i assume thats gone wrong ! :p
