Given the number of "Apps" is there anything that can touch the iPhone?

not sure why people are saying "yeah, iphone can't be touched because of the apps" android is imo a better OS, growing at a quicker pace, with your choice of hardware, and the app marketplace is growing at a phenominal rate, the benefit being that a lot of the complete pap that's made it to the iphone won't be ported over.

TBH while the iPhone may have 1000s of apps, there are also 1000s of crap on there too. There may only be 100s that are worthy of a peek.

The games are not too bad tho.
Some of the internet is good, but there's a lot of crap on it too, so I don't like the internet

I'm surprised that some people seem to be oblivious to the Android app store.

I think most people are wary of igniting the iPhone vs the rest debate as these things never end well.

Though Android is still in it's infancy, the fact that handsets are not tied to one manufacturer and one spec, along with the open source nature of Android, and in the long term the less restrictiveness of the Android market, as well as the obvious one about multitasking, will see, imo, Android phone's out selling, and eventually over taking, the iPhone unless Apple do something spectacular. They need true multitasking at the very least.

If Android hadn't existed i would have got an iPhone earlier in the year but my HTC Magic is a great introduction to the modern smartphone and Android, especially the very active OS modding scene out there. I can't see me getting a phone with any other OS any time soon.

The problem with Nokia's Ovi Store is that only accept submissions from companies. Bedroom coders are locked out at the moment. :(

I am pretty sure the are not locked out, its just very expensive and long certifcation process compared to apples :(
