Gizmo puts cold callers on hold.

:D

A number of times I have been rang up to ask if I wanted telephone services, to which I politely inform the caller that I have no need for a telephone and have not used one in years. That quite often confuses them. That or pick the phone up and say, "Hello is John there?" which is probably one of the funniest things you can say when answering.

From the truecall log for the last couple of days..

'Hung up at whisper' means that the caller has just hung up when asked to say their name.

That Walsall number has now been added to the zap list. If it calls again they get a message "I'm afraid that we're not interested in your call - Please hang up now and don't call us again." just the same as the two calls at the top of the list.

We're registered with TPS and have been for a long time but as you can see, we still get a fair few junk calls. I can hand on heart say that not a single cold sales call has reached my phone since I bought the truecall. It's fantastic.

The same goes with international calls as this extract shows.

On the first screenshot you can see the 4th from the bottom call was from someone who withholds their number but they got through because they said their name when asked. The call was transferred through to the phone and when I answered it I got a message "You have a call from [here it plays back what the caller says] press 1 to accept the call or 2 to reject it". So even at this point you still have the option of not accepting a call.

ive found the best thing
i asnwered and they did their thing i said "sorry Im not the home owner"- which is true.
To which they asked is the home owner around, said nope.
Is any-one else there? I said nope (they must have thought I was a cleaner or guest or something)

I just tell them my Mum & Dad aren't in and I'm 50.
Sometimes it backfires because when I ask if they want me to pass a message onto them it could be a genuine call like the one I had tonight off my Doctor :) but he did find it funny when I explained.

I also do the same trick at the door and it doesn't bother me that they think a 50 year old man still lives with Mummy & Daddy.
