Gladiator 2

I read a while back they were pitching an idea to bring back Maximus, yes even though he died :D with him fighting in the afterlife or something daft like that. Please don't spoil this story like Coming to America 2.

I think there was always a plan for a second movie due to how well it did, but one that didn't involve Crowe. Crowe didn't like that idea, so paid for a script to bring back his character through some silly afterlife and time travel story etc to keep himself in it. The script is even available on the net if you want to read it, at least it was a few years ago.

How can you have a gladiator 2, I so t think there was a part it could have been continued IMO.

Someone didn't read the link in the OP.

Mescal won’t be replacing Crowe’s Maximus, whose character met his end in the original film, but instead he will be playing Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), who now is a grown man as the story takes place years after the first film ended. Lucius also was the nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the son of Roman leader Marcus Aurelius, who murdered his father seized the throne. Commodus wound up in the gladiator ring with Maximus — who, though mortally wounded, skewered the emperor before fading into the great beyond to reunite with his slain wife and son. Maximus saved the boy and his mother while avenging his own family, and left a strong impression on the young Lucius.

I didn’t need to read it. It’s my opinion that there is no where in the film to continue it.

But since they are I’ll have to watch it.

Ridley Scott used to be my favourite director but he is well past it now sadly.

He has been more hit and miss lately but I thought ‘The Last Duel’ was a superbly crafted film.

Gladiator is probably my favourite film, I’m both intrigued and somewhat worried about the sequel…

Thought the first one was overrated tbh, enjoyable but overrated. No need a 2nd one... Hollywood is out of ideas again.
