Gladiator blu ray remaster

they are not doing a recall like was done for Saving Private ryan since they say that there is nothing wrong with the disc. However since many people complained about DNR, they have reamstered it (supposedly this remaster involved R.Scott).

So if you bought the original blu ray you can send your disc to Universal in the UK and they will send you this new remastered version which should be DNR free. http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4901

apparently some in North America have been getting replacements so I was wondering if anyone in the UK had received theirs?

well the new one gets 5/5 for picture quality now,

it sure did :) better late than never. only question is when are these rolling out in the UK. hope i don't have to buy that double pack with Robin Hood since that movie was an epic disaster. debating if i buy the old gladiator and mail it in for an exchange

Finally! I'd held off getting a copy on BD in the hope they would sort the issues and now hopefully they have come up trumps!

Will wait and see what AVForums have to say as I'm sure they'll get a copy in for review as soon as possible because they slated the original release for it's issues so will have a great interest in checking out this new "remastered" one!

I have posted mine off, just waiting for the replacement now.

saving private ryan  don't tell me they are recalling that as well  I got mine on release day and haven't watched it yet

I hate all this, why can't they do the job properly

suppose it's my own fault for buying them so quickly. Think I should wait a few months first

This should answer any questions you have and don't worry this has happened to many people including myself.

Sent mine off and got the new replacement disc the other day, haven't had chance to watch it yet but from what i've read it's a big improvement.

I sent my disc 1 to Universal on 3rd September by recorded post but it still has not arrived as of 22nd September. I did contact Universal by email over a week ago to ask when I'd be getting it but only got the reply yesterday. They told me it would be another two weeks (???) and they couldn't confirm either that they'd received my original disc (somewhat worrying really as you'd think they'd have a database with everyone's name and address stored there for easy access).

The longer the replacement disc takes to arrive the more tempted I am to buy the remastered version locally but I know that would be a stupid thing to do. Reports say that Asda are selling the new version and a Pocket Blu logo on the back next to the DTS-HD MA logo indicates that it is the remastered one.

Also, to tell if you have the old vs the new remastered version:
Old:
-White UPC on box
-Disc 1 has a code on the back of the disc starting with NA and ends with a 1

New:
-Yellow UPC on box
-Disc 1 has a code on the back of the disc starting with NA and ends with a 2

Saw the review of the new disc on AVForums and instantly went and ordered a copy for delivery tomorrow - cannot wait to give it a whirl - that and I've not actually seen Robin Hood so a nice bonus disk there :p
