Was wondering if anyone knew any good places in Glasgow for tasting menu's. The only one I've tried so far is Six by Nico, which I enjoyed. But I'm looking to try others.

One place I did find online is Cali Bruich. Anyone know if its good?

Bilson Eleven will fit the bill, closest to Michelin dining Glasgow has. It's unnecessarily pricey though.
Cail Bruich is amazing, one of my favourites.
Brian Maule does a tasting menu, but it's a bit business expense inside...
Black Dove does a tasting menu. It's in Shawlands, I don't think it's worth a trip unless you live south of the river but it's good food, and very good friendly service.
111 by Nico, the first restaurant of his, does a tasting. I think Tuesday is the cheap day, total bargain!

Porter and Rye do a tasting menus from time to time upstairs at The Finnieston. I've not eaten at any but do look good. Follow them on Facebook for information.

Should keep you going!

I liked the food at Six, went for the american menu, but service was subpar and their drinks choice is scandalously limited.

Do you fancy a trip to Aberdeen? We're doing a tasting menu on the 29/30th September at Moonfish Cafe!

Sadly that's a bit far for me to go. I'd need to get a train from Glasgow to Aberdeen. That's about 30 minutes by train to Glasgow, then roughly 2 and a half hours to Aberdeen. And then the same back. Probably about the furthest I would go would be Edinburgh.

Yeh, I thought it might be for one dinner; would require a hotel! You should pop in though if you find yourself in the city at some point!

Have a look at the Ox and Finch menu, it's not a structured tasting menu so to speak, but it's sharing plates (not tapas!) and you can order as much as you want, and add plates on as you go. It's in the Michelin Guide as well.

We went to Cail Bruich in May, tasting menu was very good, would recommend.

Not sure how accessible Loch Lomond would be for you? If an option then Martin Wishart @ Cameron House would be worth a trip.

Chance would be a fine thing. Not had the opportunity to lately. I would have gone somewhere this weekend, but its McM Scotland this weekend, so I'll be busy at that.

Soon though. Soon.

Teppenyaki place next to Rotunda casino does like 10 courses or something for like £100, was like 10 years ago I went though so prices/courses may be off. It was a stag doo and I remember the bill being crazy.

So I had Monday and Tuesday off this week. I thought this would be an ideal time to try out Cali Bruich at last. Sadly when I tried to make the booking over a week ago yesterday was totally booked solid and today had no bookings ealier than 6pm. So I opted to go back to Six by Nico instead to try out their newest "Forest" theme.

Started with the optional snack course. Was sourdough bread with truffle butter, crispy quail egg, beetroot and goats cheese meringue's and wild mushroom veloute. Nice start to the meal. the veloute was very tasty :)

First proper course was a celeriac pannacotta with forager salad and red cabbage gazpacho. This was really nice. It had such an unusual flavour, but I liked it! :)

Second course was smoked pheasant terrine with rainbow carrot, granola crumb and wild berry gel. This actually came served under a glass dome full of smoke, that's taken off when they bring it to the table. The terrine was good and I liked the fruity gel.

Third course was foraged wild mushroom with Parsienne gnocchi, parmesan & truffle Royale. I loved this course. The cheese was delicious and it was a fantastic savoury dish! :D

The fourth course was the fish course. Rainbow trout with wild sorrel, toasted hazelnut and Swizz chard. I actually almost asked them to swap this dish out for the 4th course from the veggie menu, cause I'm not really a big seafood eater. But I'm glad I didn't. This was actually nice! It wasn't overpoweringly fishy. The other elements of the dish complimented it nicely.

Fifth course was venison haunch with beetroot sauerkraut, burnt onion jus and blackberries. The beetroot is hiding under the meat. This was GOOD! The meat was perfectly cooked and I loved the all the flavours working together :)

And finally the dessert course. A "trio of apple". Pain perdu, cinannamon Chantilly and brioche parfait, with some apple gel on the side. Very fruity and refreshing. Had this with a very nice glass of Tokaji dessert wine. £8 for a 50ml glass! Expensive, but exquisite!

Its such good value for money! £25 for 6 courses and £25 if you want the wine pairing, plus £5 for the extra snack course. You'd think with that price the quality wouldn't be there, but I would argue that it is :)

I'm still really hoping to try out Cali Bruich. I would try to go this weekend, but its Blizzcon, so that's going to be taking up all my time. I will find a time when I can go though. And hopefully this time there will be tables available for a lunch reservation.

How'd you find the service at 6? I didn't rate it at all when I was there. Sloppy, uninterested and lazy I thought.

Food looks good though, better than the American menu I ate.

I can't fault the woman that served me. She was friendly and informative about the dishes.

You mean the route 66 menu? That was the first theme I tried there. I liked it, though I would say the current theme is better.

EDIT: I just booked a table for Cali Bruich for this Friday. Managed to get a decent time for a lunchtime visit. I'll let you know how it goes.

Finally got a chance to try out Cali Bruich today. I went for the 6 course Introduction menu for £45. Didn't take the optional cheese course or the wine pairing.

The meal started off with a couple of complimentary snacks. The first was like a smoky ham hock inside and the second was filled with blue cheese. Both were nice :)

First course was mushrooms and winter veg in a really nice broth. Excellent start to the meal :)

Next was sourdough bread with cultured butter and smoked chicken fat. The smoked chicken fat was really good with the bread.

Next up was the venison tartare. This was fantastic! The flavour was just sublime and it worked really well with the mushrooms and the other ingredients.

Course four was the fish course. Cod with broccoli, mussels, kohlrabi and seaweed butter. This was my least enjoyed course. Its not to say it was bad, but I'm not really a big fan of seafood. Also can't stand mussels. I did eat most of it though. At least the veg was tasty :p

After that was the much more enjoyable meat course. Goosnargh duck with yeasted quince. It came with a salad that also had duck in it. Duck... liver I think? Really enjoyed this, especially combining the meat with the quince :)

And lastly the dessert. Valrhona manjari chocolate with coffee and hazelnut. Had this with a glass of sauternes grand cru classé wine. Superb, but pricy! £12.50 for a 75ml glass!

Overall, fantastic meal :)

Just wow! Was that a offer/deal you got or is that the usual price? Considering a 3 course meal at somewhere like Pizza Exoress would set you back way more than that, that's an incredible price for 6 course menu which chef has put a lot of effort/thought in to and immaculately presented.

Haven't yet had the pleasure of eating at Cail Bruich, but had to bring up this dish. I'm sure the flavours were fantastic, but the presentation on that particular dish is shockingly bad. Serving a a loose jus on a flat white plate is a basic no. Also, serving (almost) an entire duck breast on a tasting menu is very odd, especially when the nearside slice appears to be heavily overcooked.
