glasgows getting a bit tonto again it seems

Well, Maryhill is hardly where you want to go on your holidays is it? I never had any problems in 4 years of living there but I did hear some downright scary stories from friends.

Where abouts are you?

Where abouts in the East End fox? I'm 'fake' East End being in Dennistoun but got horribly lost on Saturday in the middle of the night in Riddrie and ended up walking through Sighthill park. I'm amazed I'm still alive.

It's only Glasgow, it's just a bit of banter.

Ah, the East End. Even in daylight I never felt safe there. It's a different world

Going back to the guy's wee fella getting attacked. Is this supposed to be the same gang who did over his brother last year?

yup the east end is a lovely place, not so great place to be taxiing though i may add. lots of stabbings bookies getting robbed every other day (my local one at the end of the street has been robbed 3 times in as many months and generally just out and out thuggery abounds

his brother got done last week, intersting approach drag someone out a car in broad daylight and try and ram a power drill through their skull

think someones been playing too many video games and is now looking for more unique and inventive ways to murder someone. x3 multiplier for using the power drill perhaps

It's Glasgow.

Other than his wang getting cut short, its pretty much the norm in parts.

not going to end there though, i can see this escalating and very quickly they have some pretty serious people behind them who i gather will not be too chuffed at this happening so i forsee a lot of blowback on this and more than likely a good few people turning up mutilated and or dead

I was just thinking to myself, video games must be to blame for this sort of thing. I mean you just wouldn't be likely to see this nasty little lot happening in an Amish community - where would you get the power drill for a start? And running a horse and cart off the road with Bessie and your brougham is much more effort than smashing a couple of clapped out Saxos together.

Still I hope this isn't the start of a gang war but I'm not sure if it can be avoided once this type of retaliation attacks start. As for why you'd do it with a power drill, it's the sort of viciousness which sends a message - for some criminals now it seems to be how to stand out, by the greater levels of depravity that they can go to.

eek! I'm currently in Glasgow on a work trip for a few days... I thought that the only rough area of Glasgow was Govan, which seemed pretty tame :)

Because you don't get such acts in movies and dramas? Oh wait........you do.

Govan is fine nowadays. But the Glasgow crime rate isn't actually a fair reflection on the city. Most crime is gang related, not indiscriminate violence against people. I read a report about this earlier in the year, will see if I can find it.
