Just started wearing glasses want a decent pair.

Where can I get good designer glasses frames ?

Is there anywhere with good discounts.

Would you just recommend the normal specsavers and vision express.

All the major opticians have various designer labels and generally have some sort of deal on.
Just go and have a look, try a few on and to be honest don't worry too much about the label! You can't tell once they are on anyway.

AFAIK most designer frames are designed by the stores and have the names licensed to them.

You really do pay just for the name.

Selectspecs and Specsuperstore are two places i've used before that offer a decent number of Designer frames. Best bet is to go to one of the high street stores to try them on and take down the product id which is usually on the inside of the arms so you can look them up when you get home

if you can find some frames you like on the internet, chances are you can go to your local (decent, i.e. not specsavers) opticians and they'll order them off the internet for you. after all, they'll make a little bit of profit and will charge for the service of fitting them and whatnot. i did this with a pair of yves-saint laurent frames that i really wanted but couldn't find anywhere-- not at any 'designer' glasses stores nor even the YSL stores in london.

local, small-time opticians simply ordered a pair off the internet and they were manufactured and shipped from italy as per request. admittedly took a little longer than just waltzing into a shop and buying a pair the same day... but the bonus of having the _exact_ frames you want :)
