A couple of shots from last weeks trip to Glentrool. Luckily the temperatures had dropped overnight and produced the mist which slowly lifted as the sun came into the glen

First is upside down ;) They are damn good though. Scotland seems like a fantastic place for landscapes.

I hope that the infamous GlenTrool midges didn't get you.

never seen a single one. Even though it has been really mild this year, I think they have been killed off.

Strax,

I'm always impressed with your landcapes scenes! Way better than the **** postcards all over the place here in Scotland!

Can you tell me where this place is? Did u camp out there? Fishing or something?

Can you tell me where this place is?

Head down past Girvan towards Newton Stewart and turn into Glentrool from there. That would probably be the quickest though slightly longer than going over the Carrick Hills.

Did u camp out there?

No just left the house after 6am to get there before 8am :)

those will be great with HDR, tell me it was shot in RAW !!!

I am not really a fan of HDR, too false for my liking. All images were shot in RAW (is there anyway else? ;) ;)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Those photos are brilliant natural images of stunning scenes. The dynamic range is all there, why do you need any more apart from it being the trendy thing to do?

That all depends on how you use it. You can use it to generate results just like these or where the sky is just a bit blown out you can bring it back. Its the new RAW :D I'd have a play perhaps, just to see.

I don't think HDR suits natural scenes and landscapes. Just my 2p.
I think it can do, but I think those shots are just fine as they are.

Really good work there, I like no.1 especially.

It really isn't though, when used appropriately it works well (As you have aptly demonstrated) however on this photo there is completly no need at all. Nothing is over or under exposed and there is already plenty of detail in the sky. HDR has worked well in your shots as it gives them a sense of drama and atmosphere, I think that these shots already have that.

I'm still not convinced that the reflections are real! Do you put up a huge invisble wall infront of the lochs before you take the photos becuase there doesn't seem to a drop of wind which is odd after the weather we have been having lately!

Yes they are real, Its just a combination of checking the weather forecasts for the right type of weather and little wind. You also usually find some calm before the sun rises as well.

Today looked pretty good weather (and wind wise), tomorrow also looks as if it will be good.

I am off to Aberfoyle first thing tomorrow, to hopefully get there just after sunrise. These are perfect conditions for still water and mist ;)

Love them, the 2nd one is the best.

I like it because it has an old feeling to it, like the oil paintings you get. Think this really show what i think of this great country!

Top job!

Could i have the full size photo?
